摘要: To ensure the integrity of a telecommunications network provisioned with a distributed restoration algorithm (DRA), a communications network is provided for routing signaling messages such as DRA restoration and maintenance messages among the various nodes of the network. Thus, while data is sent among the nodes via the working links interconnecting the various nodes, signal messages are communicated among the various nodes by way of the independent communications network, which may be a wide area network. By reallocating the signal messages to a separate network, an efficient telecommunications network is effected.

摘要: In a telecommunications network provisioned with a distributed restoration scheme, to determine the reactions and responses of the network while the network is “live” or operational, an exercise information message is provided to the network for presenting a simulated failure or failures thereto. This exercise information message is broadcast to all of the nodes of the network so that every node is aware of the simulated failure scenario. Modified DRA messages that indicate that they are exercise only messages are used by the nodes for executing the exercise restoration process. Such exercise restoration process will proceed as if an actual failure has occurred with the notable exception that no actual cross-connections will be made. Certain functionalities are provisioned to the nodes to allow the exercise restoration process to be aborted if a real failure is detected or upon the expiration of a timer. The exercise restoration process can also be terminated by a command from the network management.

摘要: According to one embodiment, an integrated circuit is disclosed that includes a plurality of functional unit blocks (FUBs), wherein each of the plurality of FUBs further includes a clock gated circuit and a clock gating circuit. The clock gating circuit immediately ungates clock signals to be received at the clock gated circuit whenever the clock gated circuit is to transition from an idle state to a non-idle state. According to a further embodiment, the clock gating circuit also immediately gates the clock signals whenever the clock gated circuit is to transition from a non-idle state to the idle state.

摘要: The present invention is a method and apparatus for dynamic optimization of a dynamic physical system having a device under control and a controller along with a modeling system having an estimator and a constrained nonlinear program. The time varying trajectories of the dynamic physical system are parameterized and run through the modeling system in order to produce a set of optimal time varying setpoint trajectories to be used in the dynamic physical system. The optimal time varying setpoint trajectories optimize the physical system to produce the desired end result (or product) of the dynamic physical system.

摘要: A method for the estimation of the state variables of nonlinear systems with exogenous inputs is based on improved extended Kalman filtering (EKF) type techniques. The method uses a discrete-time model, based on a set of nonlinear differential equations describing the system, that is linearized about the current operating point. The time update for the state estimates is performed using integration methods. Integration, which is accomplished through the use of matrix exponential techniques, avoids the inaccuracies of approximate numerical integration techniques. The updated state estimates and corresponding covariance estimates use a common time-varying system model for ensuring stability of both estimates. Other improvements include the use of QR factorization for both time and measurement updating of square-root covariance and Kalman gain matrices and the use of simulated annealing for ensuring that globally optimal estimates are produced.

摘要: A method for computer-aided design. The method includes the steps of representing a computer-aided design activity as a design cycle and defining a goal of the design activity. The method also includes the steps of defining alternate design steps toward achieving the goal. According to one embodiment, the design activity is represented as a graph containing the alternate design steps. According to this embodiment, a cost metric is assigned for each of the alternate design steps that includes elements representing relative costs of taking each of a plurality of paths in the graph. Element values and bounds on the cost metric are the determined by searching the graph to project costs incurred upon execution of each of the alternate design steps to achieve the goal. The cost of achieving the goal is then optimized by selecting one of the alternate design steps associated with a smallest cost metric.

摘要: In a telecommunications network having a plurality of intelligent nodes interconnected by multiple communication channels, alternate paths and spare channels are set up for restoring traffic disrupted by failure to one or more of the communications channels. The alternate paths may be set up irrespective of the number of custodial node pairs, also referred to as leader/follower or sender/chooser pairs, that could simultaneously be involved in the restoration operation. The interconnected nodes have bi-directional working and/or spare channels. There is stored at each node in the network participating in the recovery operation a spare channel manifest for each of the leader/follower combinations. The first end node, or leader node, of every identified failed channel initiates a request message for each disrupted working channel to set up an alternate path. Spare channels are assigned to the alternate path so that, with the help of intermediate helper nodes, the request message, guided by the spare channel manifests, is sent to the second end node, or follower node, of the failed channel. An acknowledgement is sent by the follower node back to the leader node on the same path that the request message travelled on. The spare channel manifests are suitably configured to realize desired levels of restoration under various scenarios of failures in the network and are modified as warranted to account for changes in the network.

摘要: A memory module includes a mother board with an edge connector mounted adjacent one of its edges. Memory chips are mounted on the same side of the mother board as the edge connector. A daughter board, having memory chips mounted on its surface facing the mother board, is connected to the mother board so that its maximum height above the mother board is substantially no greater than that of the edge connector. Preferably the memory chips are mounted in thin TSOP packages and the daughter board is connected to the mother board by two rows of mating electrical pins and sockets, one located near the edge connector and the other near the top of the mother board, so the daughter board is mounted over virtually all of the width of the mother board except that covered by the edge connector, and so that the rows of mating connectors and the facing surfaces of the mother and daughter boards form an air channel through which air can flow to cool the memory chips mounted between the mother and daughter boards. In the preferred embodiment, each of the chip bearing surfaces of the mother and daughter boards has an equal number of chips, and has separate lines from the module's driver circuits, causing the electrical characteristics of each chip bearing surface to be similar. In the preferred embodiment, pairs of memory circuit packages having mirrored input connectors are mounted next to each other on a common surface and have adjacent corresponding mirrored input and/or output connectors electrically connected to common pads on their printed circuit board.
