    摘要: A wireless earpiece may include a local memory for storing audio files that can be played back by the user. The wireless earpiece may fit entirely within the user's ear canal. Audio files, for example music files, may be loaded on the wireless earpiece by docking the wireless earpiece with a mobile device, which includes a larger memory storing the user's library of music files. The stored audio files may be received from a mobile device that were automatically selected from a library of music files by the mobile device without intervention from the user. To provide stereo sound, two wireless earpieces may be worn by the user and docked separately with the mobile device. Each of the two wireless earpieces may store a single channel of an audio file, which is separated by the mobile device during synchronization.

    摘要: In one embodiment, a system and method perform a spectral analysis in a power measurement system to determine the total harmonic distortion (“THD”) in a power signal by correlating one or more THD calculation parameters to a sensed period of a voltage input signal. In at least one embodiment, the one or more THD calculation parameters are a number of samples of a voltage, current, or voltage and current components of the power signal that correlate to the sensed period. Because, for example, the period of the power signal can vary or the clock frequency can drift over time, the power measurement system correlates the number of samples with the period and, thus, varies the count of samples over which THD is calculated when the period varies. By correlating the samples with the period, the samples more closely represent a period of the sampled component of the power signal.

When speech is detected in a microphone output signal of a microphone that measures ambient audio sounds, the audio program being reproduced by the personal audio device may be altered, by attenuating, muting or interrupting the program material. The direction of the speech can be used to determine whether the speech is from a person other than the use of the personal audio device.

    摘要: An optical sensor may be integrated into headphones and feedback from the sensor used to adjust an audio output from the headphones. For example, an emergency vehicle traffic preemption signal may be detected by the optical sensor. Optical signals may be processed in a pattern discriminator, which may be integrated with an audio controller integrated circuit (IC). When the signal is detected, the playback of music through the headphones may be muted and/or a noise cancellation function turned off. The optical sensor may be integrated in a music player, a smart phone, a tablet, a cord-mounted module, or the earpieces of the headphones.
