Abstract:
A hulling apparatus having a main frame, a moveable support frame, a rotatable drum fixed in position relative to the main frame, a housing supported by the moveable support frame and a hulling chamber formed by the placement of the drum inside the housing. A contact element having one or more brush assemblies is attached to the drum such that the bristles project into the hulling chamber to engage walnuts, pecans or other food products and remove the outer hull therefrom. The walls of the housing are formed from one or more screened panels having openings therein to pass the removed hull material and spiral members thereon to help guide the food products through the apparatus. The housing moves up and down to increase or decrease the size of the hulling chamber. The apparatus speeds the process of hulling walnuts and pecans and more effectively utilizes the brush assemblies.
Abstract:
There is disclosed an improved method of manufacturing of an optical device (40), particularly semiconductor optoelectronic devices such as laser diodes, optical modulators, optical amplifiers, optical switches, and optical detectors. The invention provides a method of manufacturing optical device (40), a device body portion (15) from which the device (40) is to be made including a Quantum Well (QW) structure (30), the method including the step of: processing the device body portion (15) so as to create extended defects at least in a portion (53) of the device portion (5). Each extended defect is a structural defect comprising a plurality of adjacent “point” defects.
Abstract:
Random access to arbitrary fields of a video segment compressed using both interframe and intraframe techniques is enhanced by adding state information to the bitstream prior to each intraframe compressed image to allow each intraframe compressed image to be randomly accessed, by generating a field index that maps each temporal field to the offset in the compressed bitstream of the data used to decode the field, and by playing back segments using two or more alternatingly used decoders. The cut density may be improved by eliminating from the bitstream applied to each decoder any data corresponding to bidirectionally compressed images that would otherwise be used by the decoder to generate fields prior to the desired field.
Abstract:
Sharing of resources of a device by an application is provided by a video device manager which defines contexts which are collections of logical entities, called a graph, which are used to produce a video composition and which are applied to a single collection of physical entities. One of these logical entities may be an input buffer or first-in first-out memory (FIFO). Another may be an output buffer or FIFO. Other entities may be defined for compression, decompression, video encoders and decoders, mixers and filters. Each entity also has memory locations to which it has access. An entity may adopt memory locations of another entity if the memory locations are accessible y the entity. Such buffer adoption reduces data copying by virtual devices.
Abstract:
A restaurant management system (10) is provided. The restaurant management system (10) includes an inventory system (64). Also included are a supplier (54) and a user (52). Orders are sent from the user (52) to the supplier (54). The orders have associated therewith time information. Each item in the order has associated therewith an inherent minimum time until the order may be delivered. Also included is a remuneration system (60) to collect money in response to the receipt of an order. An alarm system (300) having a plurality of threshold alarms with each of the threshold alarms associated with a predetermined duration of time from the receipt of the order is also provided.
Abstract:
A hydraulically operated attachment for machine tools in which there is a gear drive between a rotary cutting tool and a rotary hydraulic motor. The rotation axes of the hydraulic motor, gears and cutting tool are parallel to each other for providing a compact arrangement that permits operation of the cutting tool on the work piece close to the collet that supports and rotates the latter.
