Abstract:
A method of making a crystalline film includes providing a film comprising seed grains of a selected crystallographic surface orientation on a substrate; irradiating the film using a pulsed light source to provide pulsed melting of the film under conditions that provide a mixed liquid/solid phase and allowing the mixed solid/liquid phase to solidify under conditions that provide a textured polycrystalline layer having the selected surface orientation. One or more irradiation treatments may be used. The film is suitable for use in solar cells.
Abstract:
A power-down control method of a fuel cell hybrid vehicle includes determining an operation mode when a key-off command is input. If the mode is a fuel cell mode, the method includes: converting a low voltage DC-DC converter connected to an auxiliary battery to a boost mode; maintaining a driving state of a high voltage part, powered by voltage from the auxiliary battery and boosted by the low voltage DC-DC converter; subsequently stopping operation of a fuel cell stack and turning off the high voltage part; and subsequently turning off the low voltage DC-DC converter. If the mode is a hybrid mode, the method includes: maintaining a driving state of the high voltage part, powered by voltage from a super capacitor; subsequently stopping operation of the fuel cell stack and turning off the high voltage part; subsequently turning off the DC-DC converters; and subsequently cutting power of the super capacitor.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Provided is a transceiver using a millimeter-wave (MM-wave). The transceiver determines output power of a transmitting signal according to a receiving signal of a receiving end in the same device so that a possible loss value occurring in the air may be predicted. By doing so, performance of a whole link budget may be enhanced, and the transmitting signal may be rapidly controlled.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method for managing a Voice over IP (VoIP) network includes collecting a first set of data from a first source of network performance management data, each data item in the first set of data corresponding to a call made using the VoIP network; collecting a second set of data from a second source of network performance management data, each data item in the second set of data corresponding to a call made using the VoIP network and being of a different type than the first set of data; correlating the first set of data and the second set of data such that a data item from the first set of data is matched with a data item from the second set of data that corresponds to a common call made over the VoIP network; and outputting a performance report based on the correlating.

Abstract:
A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a server having a controller to obtain billing data associated with a plurality of calls over a Voice Over Internet Protocol network, determine special service calls being made based on the billing data, monitor for the special service calls being associated with at least one of one calling number or one network node, and determine an undesired condition based at least in part on the special service calls being made from the one calling number or through the one network node exceeding a threshold. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
A non-coherent synchronous direct-conversion receiving apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a RF receiving unit, an I/Q ADC unit, and a digital signal processing unit for analyzing the digital signal received from the I/Q ADC unit to adjust a bandwidth of a variable receiving filtering unit according to the analyzing result, compensating a frequency offset to be correspondent with a symbol transmitting rate by extracting frequency offset information from the digital signal, compensating a frequency offset using the analyzing result, and applying a voltage corresponding to a sum of compensating values to the RF receiving unit. Therefore, the apparatus can compensate a frequency offset regardless of the magnitude of a frequency offset and performs a stable AFC operation through varying the bandwidth of a receiving filter by estimating the frequency offset with only data information, and adjusting a reference frequency twice through an interface signal.
