There is provided a hard-material-coated member which is suitable as a long-life mold for plastic working of metals and which has a metal as base material and coating layers formed at least on its working plane by physical vapor deposition. At least three layers, i.e., a layer a) as the outermost layer, a layer c) just above the base material and a layer b) between layer a) and the layer c) are formed as coating layers. The hardness values of these layers in terms of hardness symbol HV 0.025 are as follows: 2500>(the hardness of the layer a)>1000, 3500>(the hardness of the layer b)>2300, 2500>(the hardness of the layer c)>1000, (500+the hardness of the layer a)

The radar system includes: a transmission circuit transmitting the radar waves via a transmission antenna; a receiving circuit receiving the reflected waves via a receiving antenna; a delay line having an end connected to aid transmission circuit and the other end connected to said receiving circuit, which delays the radar waves by a predetermined delay amount; a correlation circuit/coherent detection circuit which detects a waveform having a strength equal to or higher than a predetermined strength, from a signal provided from said receiving circuit which obtains the signal from the reflected waves or the delayed radar waves; and a level decision circuit which judges, during self-diagnosis, whether or not the detected waveform is a waveform of the delayed radar wave according to the predetermined delay amount, and if the waveform is not the waveform of the delayed radar wave, determines that abnormality occurs in said radar system.
Abstract:
A ferromagnetic metal powder for a magnetic recording medium that combines good magnetic properties and oxidation stability, and a magnetic recording medium using the powder. A method of producing the magnetic powder comprises using oxygen to form an oxide film, then changing the state of the oxide film by using moderate gas phase activation treatment in an active gas, using, for example, CO or H2 or other such gas having reducing properties. ESCA-based measurements show that the binding energy peak of the powder is more to the low energy side compared to when the above treatment is not used, showing that the oxide film has oxidation resistance. The storage stability of a magnetic recording medium is improved by using the powder.

The object of the present invention is to provide a vulcanization molding and its vulcanizing machine in which a heating pressure medium, which is nitrogen gas, is heated at high heat exchange ratio without an increase in the running cost and an increase in size. The vulcanizing machine includes a mold mechanism such as a lower side mold 5 and an upper side mold 25 and the like, which removably accommodate a green tire 4, an agitating mechanism 30, which agitates a heating pressure medium such as nitrogen gas or the like, which vulcanization mold the green tire 4 by heating the green tire 4 while pressing it against the mold mechanism, and an induction heating mechanism 41, which preferentially heats the agitating mechanism 30.

A first semiconductor layer consisting of AlGaInP is formed on a substrate consisting of GaAs by crystal growth while adding magnesium (Mg) that is a p-type dopant to the first semiconductor layer. A second semiconductor layer consisting of GaAs is then grown on the first semiconductor layer without adding any magnesium to the second semiconductor layer. Thus, the second semiconductor layer can prevent unintended doping (memory effect) produced by magnesium.

A method for polishing a wafer effectively preventing a sag in an outer peripheral portion of a wafer and a polishing pad for polishing a wafer preferably used in the method for polishing a wafer are provided. The method for polishing a wafer comprises the step of: mirror-polishing a wafer with a main surface of the wafer being in contact with a polishing pad of non-woven fabric impregnated with resin, wherein a ratio of surface roughness of the polishing pad to compressibility thereof {surface roughness Ra (μm)/compressibility (%)} is 3.8 or more.

An apparatus for effectively heating a green tire generates heat to a metal member embedded therein using electromagnetic induction, to complete a heating formation of a green tire in a sufficiently short time. Particularly, in the thick portion of the green tire which is hard to heat, the efficiency of heat generation due to electromagnetic induction is increased by effectively concentrating a high frequency magnetic field on the metal member embedded therein. The apparatus for heating a green tire comprises a local heating coil for forming high frequency magnetic field along a portion of extending direction of a metal member, a high frequency power supply for supplying high frequency power to the local heating coil, and a mechanism for moving the local heating coil relatively in the extending direction of the metal member.
