Abstract: Image Signal Processing (ISP) optimization framework for computer vision applications is disclosed. The tuning of the ISP is performed automatically and presented as a nonlinear multi-objective optimization problem, followed by solving the problem using an evolutionary stochastic solver. An improved ISP of the embodiments of the invention includes at least features of search space reduction for reducing a number of ISP configurations, remapping the generated population to the reduced search space via mirroring, and global optimization function processing, which allow tuning all the blocks of the ISP at the same time instead of the prior art tuning of each ISP block separately. Also shown that an ISP tuned for image quality performs inferior compared with an ISP trained for a specific downstream image recognition task.

Abstract: Commercially available gas filters are too large for mobile form-factor gas sensors. These sensors require filters with planar dimensions in the millimeter range and thicknesses of 1 mm or less and combined with long term and harsh conditions survivability. Furthermore, custom filters made small enough to be applied onto mobile form-factor gas sensors are generally not specific enough to support multi-gas detection. This invention describes a novel structured filter: (1) derived from principles of macroscale gas separation columns, (2) made compact enough to be utilized at millimeter scale and microscale levels, and (3) made compatible with mobile requirements and some methodology for usage in micro gas spectroscopy platforms.

Abstract: Systems and techniques are provided for determining environmental layouts. For example, based on one or more images of an environment and depth information associated with the one or more images, a set of candidate layouts and a set of candidate objects corresponding to the environment can be detected. The set of candidate layouts and set of candidate objects can be organized as a structured tree. For instance, a structured tree can be generated including nodes corresponding to the set of candidate layouts and the set of candidate objects. A combination of objects and layouts can be selected in the structured tree (e.g., based on a search of the structured tree, such as using a Monte-Carlo Tree Search (MCTS) algorithm or adapted MCTS algorithm). A three-dimensional (3D) layout of the environment can be determined based on the combination of objects and layouts in the structured tree.

Abstract: Aspects include piezoelectric acoustic transducers and systems for acoustic transduction. In some aspects, an acoustic transducer is structured with a silicon substrate having a top surface and a bottom surface, where the top surface has a first portion and an edge along the first portion associated with an acoustic aperture. The transducer has a first silicon oxide layer disposed over the first portion of the top surface of the silicon substrate, a polysilicon layer disposed over the first silicon oxide layer, and a second silicon oxide layer disposed over the polysilicon layer. A cantilevered beam comprising a fixed end, a deflection end, a top surface, and a bottom surface, has a first portion of the bottom surface at the fixed end disposed over the second silicon oxide layer, where a second portion of the bottom surface at the deflection end is formed over the acoustic aperture. In some aspects. transducer elements are reconfigurable between parallel and serial configurations depending on a system operating mode.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining user equipment (UE) locations within a wireless network using reference signals of the wireless network are described. The disclosed systems and methods utilize a plurality of in-phase and quadrature (I/Q) samples generated from signals provided by receive channels associated with two or more antennas of the wireless system. Based on received reference signal parameters the reference signal within the signals from each receive channel among the receive channels is identified. Based on the identified reference signal from each receive channel, an angle of arrival between a baseline of the two or more antennas and incident energy from the UE to the two or more antennas is determined. That angle of arrival is then used to calculate the location of the UE. The angle of arrival may be a horizontal angle of arrival and/or a vertical angle of arrival.
