摘要: A street-lighting and solar energy collection system is disclosed. The system comprises a plurality of lighting/solar energy collecting units, an AC and DC power transmission means and a control unit. The system operates in one of the two operation modes. In the first operation mode as the street-lighting system, the units receive AC power from the power grid for lighting. In the second operation mode as the solar energy collecting system, the units transmit generated DC electricity to a centralized DC to AC converter in the control unit. The control unit further provides a means for switching the system in between two modes. When the system is operated as the solar energy collection system, it is disconnected from the power grid. The generated DC electricity from each unit is converted by the AC to DC converter in the control unit and is subsequently injected into the power grid. Communication devices in the units and in the control unit form an ad hoc communication network. Instructions for operations can be sent from the control unit to the units. Further, the operation status from each unit can be collected and be sent to the control unit.

摘要: Method and system are disclosed to render targeted advertisement to a user by employing a television terminal, which is connected to an advertising server through a computing device. Furthermore, a remote control integrated with a sensory system that senses the user's action of holding the device is disclosed. A signal is sent to the computing device connected to the television terminal when the user is holding the remote controller. The computing device then switches on the terminal and sends an advertisement for displaying on the screen of the terminal. After receiving the user's selection of a TV channel, the programming replaces the displayed advertisement while the displayed message is moved into a “picture-in-picture” with a smaller display window. The user may select the advertisement in the window for further reviewing of more detailed information in a video/audio format. The window and displayed advertisement is removed from the screen after a predetermined period of time if the user is not intrigued by the message. Various embodiments of the sensory systems have been disclosed. In another embodiment, the remote control has the capability to collect biometrical data of the user. The data is sent to the computing device for further analysis to identify a specific user from a group. Targeted advertisements are then delivered based upon the determined user's identity.

摘要: Methods of rendering of unpaid media assets from an on-line merchandiser to a user are disclosed by the use of handheld media players. One embodiment uses the idle screen to display metadata of an unpaid asset when another paid asset is being played. Another embodiment employs the switching-on screen of the player. Recommended unpaid assets by the merchandiser are delivered and stored in the unused storage capacity of the player. The unpaid assets are invisible to the user except that when they are selected by the processor and are displayed on the mentioned screens. The unpaid assets are organized in a single structure as those media assets owned by the user. The capacity occupied by the unpaid media assets is adjusted dynamically based upon the required capacity by the user at a specific time. The media assets stored are managed based on their assigned priorities. The user can pay the on-line merchandiser after the recommended asset is selected through a method that the assigned credits to the user are deducted and the user pays for the on-line merchandiser when next time he or she is connected to the merchandiser through a general purpose computing device.

摘要: A method is disclosed by the use of an idle display screen of an electronic device to render one or a plurality of advertisement messages. The method requires no extra effort from a user since the displayed message is replaced by a default display screen when the first user's input action is received. The displayed message is being removed into an icon displayed in the default screen in a notable means to the user. In one embodiment, a display plane with the advertisement message is reduced progressively and is moved into the icon in a visible way to the user with a visible trajectory of the movement on the screen. The user attracted by the displayed message may actuate the icon containing at least the displayed message for a review. Further, the icon may include other advertisement messages. In another embodiment, an idle screen such as for example, a blanket screen is displayed when the device is idle. An advertisement message is displayed immediately after the user's first input action is received. The message is then removed into the icon in a user notable means. The user's reactions to the displayed messages are monitored and the messages to be displayed are adjusted in accordance with the user's reactions.

摘要: A method is disclosed by the use of an idle display screen of a mobile device to present an advertisement message. An idle screen, which is taken as a blanket screen in the exemplary case for the illustration, is displayed while the device is idling. A plurality of sensors is integrated with the mobile device. The sensors are used to detect the user's action for holding and positioning the device before user's input actions. A message can then be displayed a short period of time before user's input actions to the device. The system requires a minimum amount of additional power consumption for delivering advertisement messages to the user. It allows that multimedia messages are delivered with acceptable power consumption when utilizing of the idle screens. One embodiment employs pressure sensors, which are placed in selected locations on the sidewalls and/or on the surface of the backside of the device. The locations are selected to match the locations on the surface of the device that a user's hand is in touch with when holding the device for a user's input action. Another embodiment employs touch-screen type of sensors to sense a human hand in touch with the device. Further, accelerator-meters and photo-sensors can be placed in or onto the device to detect changes of physical parameters associated with the interaction actions from the user before an advertisement message is displayed.

摘要: A novel media delivery system is disclosed with a splittable portable media player, which comprises a user interface unit and a storage unit. The user interface unit includes a user interface and a cache that stores metadata for media files. The storage unit includes a media file system and a signal process unit. The user interface unit remotely controls the storage unit that is connected (wired) with a media delivery unit, which is a stereo system with speakers in one of disclosed embodiments for audio signal. The portable media player is used as a conventional media player when the units are detached. The novel system has the advantages of simplicity over previous arts and, consequently, with lower cost. Furthermore, the wireless data transmission involved in the system consists of the metadata of media files and the security for typically copyrighted media files is superior. A novel method for sharing of media experience with a group of users is also disclosed with the use of portable media players. The method allows multiple users holding a media player with the shared metadata of media files to control the media delivery system to have a shared media experience.

摘要: A new method of avoiding resist notching in the formation of a polysilicon gate electrode in the fabrication of an integrated circuit device is described. Bare active areas are provided surrounded by field oxide isolation on a semiconductor substrate wherein the surface of the substrate has an uneven topography due to the uneven interface between the active areas and the isolation. A polysilicon layer is deposited over the active areas and the field oxide isolation of the substrate. The surface of the polysilicon layer is roughened using a plasma etching process wherein pits are formed on the surface which act as light traps. The roughened polysilicon layer is covered with a layer of photoresist. Portions of the photoresist layer are exposed to actinic light wherein reflection lights from the actinic light are trapped in the pits. The reflection lights do not reflect onto the unexposed portion of the photoresist layer. The photoresist layer is developed and patterned to form the desired photoresist mask for the polysilicon layer wherein the absence of reflection lights reflecting onto the unexposed portion of the photoresist results in the notch-free photoresist mask in the formation of a polysilicon gate electrode in the fabrication of an integrated circuit device.
