Abstract: A textile assembly suitable for integration into a wearable article includes an outer layer having a distributed pattern of penetrations configured to facilitate load carriage, and a protective layer having filament and staple yarns, at least 25% of which have an average tenacity of greater than 15 gpd. The penetrations can be approximately 1 inch long and 0.25 inches wide, and can have a tear resistance when loaded with al inch wide webbing strap of greater than 50 lbf. The textile assembly can have less than 2% consumption per ASTM D6413. In embodiments, at least one layer of polymeric or elastomeric coating substantially encapsulates the yarns of the protective layer. Embodiments provide greater than 600 fps 2 gr RCC protection as measured using Mil Std 662F. The textile assembly can be sewn into a garment, which can be a pant, a shirt, or a jacket.

Abstract: A novel jacket garment worn by the driver of a tandem vehicle, such as a motorcycle, intended for rear passenger safety is disclosed. The novel garment comprises an outer shell, an inner lining, and an internal frame structure. The internal frame structure comprises a ribbing nexus comprising horizontal and vertical members. Novel features include handgrips disposed inside front pockets and connected to the internal frame structure. In some embodiments, the internal frame structure comprises elastic members. Pocket-borne handgrips may be attached to elastic members so that when engaged by a rear tandem passenger, the internal frame structure is tightened against the tandem vehicle driver's body to provide stain relief and additional stabilization of the jacket as a passenger safety device.

Abstract: A pocket square, for use with a jacket having an inside surface, an outside surface, and a pocket on the outside surface having a top edge. The pocket square has a base having a top edge and a magnetically attractive core, and a decorative portion extending from the top edge of the base. When the base is placed in the pocket its top edge is aligned with the top edge of the pocket, visibly displaying the decorative portion above the pocket. A magnetic plate is aligned with the magnetically attractive core and placed against the inside surface of the jacket to positionally fix the base within the pocket, such that the pocket square remains in position for the duration that the jacket is worn.

Abstract: The apparel is constructed from various combinations of layers of materials with moisture transfer properties. A first liner of moisture transfer fabrics abuts a second layer of structural material such as open-cell foam. The second layer can abut a breathable membrane and/or an insulating material. Finally, carefully selected outer fabric completes the combination to provide apparel with improved performance characteristics. The outer fabrics are treated in various ways to enhance performance.
