Abstract: An apparatus can be provided according to certain exemplary embodiments. For example, the apparatus can include a waveguiding first arrangement providing at least one electromagnetic radiation. A configuration can be provided that receives and splits the at least one electromagnetic radiation into a first radiation and a second radiation. The apparatus can further include a waveguiding second arrangement which has a first waveguide and a second waveguide, whereas the first waveguide receives the first radiation, and the second waveguide receives the second radiation. The first arrangement, the second arrangement and the configuration can be housed in a probe.

Abstract: Surgical visualization systems and related methods are disclosed herein, e.g., for providing visualization during surgical procedures. Systems and methods herein can be used in a wide range of surgical procedures, including spinal surgeries such as minimally-invasive fusion or discectomy procedures. Abstract: A system for tissue inspection is provided, comprising a console (50) with a light source (64), a spectrometer (66), an optical switch (65) and a processing unit. The system further comprises an elongated shaft (10), wherein an illumination fiber (40), a plug (50) in front of the illumination fiber (40), and a detection fiber (41) is provided in the elongated shaft (10). The illumination fiber (40) is capable of transmitting light from the light source (64) to its front surface and is capable of transmitting light being back-reflected from the plug (50) to the optical switch (65). The detection fiber (41) is capable of transmitting light reflected from tissue in front of the distal end surface of the elongated shaft (10) to the optical switch (65). The optical switch (65) is configured to provide the back-reflected light to the spectrometer (66) for generating a reference spectrum and to provide the light reflected from the tissue to the spectrometer (66) for generating a diffuse reflectance spectrum. The processing unit is configured to generate a tissue spectrum by normalizing the diffuse reflectance spectrum with the reference spectrum.

Abstract: Disclosed are a system, a device, and a method of a lubricant applicator device to be used with an insertion tube of an endoscope. In one embodiment, a video system center having a processor and a memory; a monitor coupled with the video system center; a light source coupled with the video system center; an endoscope coupled the video system center having a control section; an insertion tube having a camera at a distal end of the insertion tube that permits viewing of an area of an internal structure that is directly in front of the camera; and a mirror to be mechanically extendable at a distance from the camera and reflected backward, so that the camera permits viewing of an area behind the camera through a reflection of an image produced by the mirror when an operator of the endoscope utilizes the control section of the endoscope.

Abstract: An endoscope system includes: an endoscope including an image pickup device; an EEPROM provided in the endoscope, and configured to hold data according to a kind of the image pickup device; a video processor to which the endoscope is attachably and detachably connected; a control portion provided in the video processor, and configured to acquire the data from the EEPROM when the endoscope is connected to the video processor and set processing content of noise reduction processing, based on the acquired data; and an NR processing circuit provided in the video processor, and configured to execute the noise reduction processing on a video signal outputted from the image pickup device, based on setting of the control portion. The control portion sets execution/non-execution of the noise reduction processing to the NR processing circuit, based on the acquired data.
