Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for generating a pseudo-CT prediction model that can be used to generate pseudo-CT images. An exemplary system may include a processor configured to retrieve training data including at least one MR image and at least one CT image for each of a plurality of training subjects. For each training subject, the processor may extract a plurality of features from each image point of the at least one MR image, create a feature vector for each image point based on the extracted features, and extract a CT value from each image point of the at least one CT image. The processor may also generate the pseudo-CT prediction model based on the feature vectors and the CT values of the plurality of training subjects.

Abstract: A computer implemented method for assessing an arterio-venous malformation (AVM) may include, for example, receiving a patient-specific model of a portion of an anatomy of a patient; using a computer processor to analyze the patient-specific model for identifying one or more blood vessels associated with the AVM, in the patient-specific model; and estimating a risk of an undesirable outcome caused by the AVM, by performing computer simulations of blood flow through the one or more blood vessels associated with the AVM in the patient-specific model.

Abstract: A system and associated methods for accurate localization of seizure onset zone (SOZ) from independent components (IC) of resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) to improve surgical outcomes in children with Drug Resistant Epilepsy (DRE) are disclosed. The system and methods define a phased approach, where fMRI noise-related biomarkers are used through high fidelity image processing techniques to eliminate noise ICs. Then SOZ markers are used through a maximum likelihood-based classifier to determine SOZ localizing ICs.

Abstract: A method of performing magnetic resonance imaging of a body includes a) immerging the body in a static and substantially uniform magnetic field; b) exciting nuclear spins inside the body using at least one radio-frequency pulse; c) applying to the body a time-varying magnetic field gradient defining at least one trajectory (ST) in k-space and simultaneously acquiring samples of a magnetic resonance signal so as to perform a pseudo-random sampling (KS) of the k-space; and d) applying a sparsity-promoting nonlinear reconstruction algorithm for reconstructing a magnetic resonance image of the body; wherein, at least in a low-spatial frequency region of the k-space, the distance between any two adjacent points belonging to a same trajectory is lower than 1/FOV, FOV being the size of a field of view of the reconstructed image. A magnetic resonance imaging apparatus for carrying out such a method is also provided.

Abstract: A method of performing magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) includes transmitting a multi-slice excitation pulse through tissue, the multi-slice excitation pulse configured to generate multi-slice MRSI signals. The method also includes performing density weighted concentric ring acquisition on the multi-slice MRSI signals. The method further includes receiving the generated multi-slice MRSI signals in a plurality of sensors disposed in various locations around the tissue. Imaging data is reconstructed based on the acquired imaging signals. A representation of the data is displayed.

Abstract: A method for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) comprises applying a consecutive series of MRI sequences to a target volume (V) according to experimental settings (TR, α, β). A discrete sequence of transient response signals (Sn, Sn+1, Sn+2) is measured and fitted to a fit function (F) that is continuously dependent on a sequence number (n) of the respective MRI sequence (Pn) and corresponding response signal (Sn). A shape of the fit function is determined according to an analytically modelled evolution by the experimental parameters (TR, α, β) as well as variable intrinsic parameters (r, λ3, φ, δ) to be fitted. For example, the model is based on an equivalent harmonic oscillator. The intrinsic parameters of the fit function can be related to the intrinsic properties (PD, T1, T2) of the spin systems and used for imaging the target volume (V). Various optimizations of contrast can be achieved by tuning the experimental settings according to the model.

Abstract: Systems for destroying or inhibiting cancer cells and other rapidly-dividing cells including an alternating polarity (AP) magnetic field generator and at least one AP electromagnetic coil adapted to be coupled to a target body area, and a controller to control the AP magnetic field generator and at least one AP electromagnetic coil and cause the field generator and coil to apply AP magnetic field having a frequency of 0.5-500 kHz and a field strength of 0.5-5 mT to the target body area to achieve a desired inhibiting effect on cancer cells or other rapidly-dividing cells. Treatments provided by the system may be co-administered with an anti-cancer drug such as a chemotherapy drug, a hormone therapy drug, targeted therapy drugs, immunotherapy drugs, or an angiogenesis inhibitor drug.

Abstract: Bioconjugates and methods of making bioconjugates are provided, wherein the bioconjugates comprise glucose oxidase and nanoparticles that can kill tumor cells. For example, glucose oxidase-iron oxide bioconjugates can produce reactive oxygen species from blood glucose, causing cell death. The use of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles can provide magnetic resonance imaging guidance to facilitate imaging-guided drug delivery and combine diagnostics with therapy.
