摘要: A lightweight oxygen delivery system for a patient comprising a curved resilient headband to extend from side to side over a patient's head and to be comfortably seatably engaged thereon. A clip is secured towards one end of the headband. An elongated tubular boom is secured at one end to the clip to extend and hold its position, when in operation from said one end at the clip to another end located at a space in front of, and proximal to the patient's nose and mouth. An oxygen diffuser port is located at the other end of the boom, to deliver oxygen from the boom to the space in the vicinity of the patient's nose and mouth. The clip is constructed so as to hold securely an oxygen delivery tube from an oxygen source in fluid communication with said one end of the boom so as to deliver oxygen from the source to the boom for discharge through the diffuser.

摘要: A fluid sensor for determining the presence of fluid in a light-transmissive conduit includes a light emitter and a light detector positioned proximate to the conduit. The light detector is juxtaposed relative to the light emitter to receive light emitted by the light emitter. The light received by the light detector is dependent upon the presence of fluid in the conduit. The light received by the light detector varies due to the different optical properties between a conduit that is empty and one that has fluid in it. The light detector may be a phototransistor whose output is amplified to increase the signal attributable to the presence or absence of fluid in the conduit. The light emitter may be an

摘要: An improved breathing gas humidifier including an evaporation module which has a contact chamber and a flash-resistant heat exchanger, a wicking layer on the heat exchanger, a liquid water flow controller, an electric resistance heater, and a breathing gas temperature controller. The contact chamber is defined by a rigid housing and in part by a flash-resistant heat exchanger. The rigid housing has a gas inlet for connection to a breathing gas source such as a ventilator, a water inlet for connection to a liquid water source by a liquid water flow passageway, and a breathing gas outlet connected to an inhalation passageway. The wicking layer is positioned in the contact chamber to receive and distribute liquid water. The breathing gas temperature controller is operably connected to the flow controller, the heater, and a temperature sensor in the breathing gas outlet.

摘要: An aerosol dispensing apparatus comprises a housing which includes a top l having a sharp edged orifice and a speaker assembly mounted on a bottom portion of the housing. A sawtooth waveform generator generates and then provides a sawtooth waveform signal which includes a jitter component to the speaker assembly which drives a flexible diaphragm resulting in a reciprocating motion of the flexible diaphragm. The ramp portion of sawtooth waveform signal retracts the flexible diaphragm in a rearward direction, while the approximately vertical portion of the signal causes an abrupt forward movement of the flexible diaphragm. The inner portion of the housing forms a chamber which contains a medication. The jitter component of the sawtooth waveform signal fluidizes the medication suspending the medication in air within the chamber to form a vaporized medication. Each cycle of the sawtooth waveform signal generates one ring vortex of a train of ring vortices with the ring vortex being generated during the vertical portion of the signal when the abrupt forward movement of the flexible diaphragm occurs.

摘要: A surgical suction tube for removing surgical debris from within a sterile surgical operative field that is highly resistant to clogging. A tapering transparent plastic tube forms a suction tip having a plurality of apertures at its small end and a tapered opening at its large end and is inserted in the surgical wound to be cleaned. A turbulence chamber having a generally circular transverse cross section, a bulbous central portion tapering to two smaller ends has one end inserted into the large tapered end of the suction tip and the other end connected to flexible plastic tubing that leads from the sterile field to a source of suction and debris-collecting elements. The suction appearing at the suction tip apertures draws debris into the turbulence chamber in which the air turbulence generated therein maintains particulate matter in the debris in a loose state, preventing frequent clogging. When clogging does occur, the tube can be quickly cleared by removing the tip and reversing the chamber with respect to the tubing.
