    Abstract: A seat belt fitting is provided which comprises a guide element mounted on a carriage that is movable along a rail or the like. The rail may be mounted on the "B" post of an automobile so that the position of the guide element can be adjusted up-and-down relative to the shoulder of a person sitting in the automobile. The carriage can be selectively retained in a plurality of different positions along the rail. In the invention a spring strip has one end connected to the carriage, and the other end wound into a spiral. The spiral portion of the spring is retained in a predetermined position and the spring imparts a bias to the carriage tending to cancel out a bias supplied to the carriage by the seat belt.

    Abstract: A motor vehicle (1) has a seat (7), a seatbelt (8), a deflector (5), longitudinal and vertical guide rails (2, 4), and first and second guide elements (3, 9). The seatbelt (8) is configured to secure a person seated in the seat (7) and is deflected by the deflector (5). The first guide element (3) is guided displaceably in a longitudinal direction (L) of the motor vehicle (1) in the longitudinal guide rail (2). The vertical guide rail (4) is fastened to the first guide element (3) and is displaced upon displacement of the first guide element (3). The second guide element (9) is guided displaceably in a vertical direction of the motor vehicle (1) in the vertical guide rail (4). The deflector (5) is fastened to the second guide element (9) so that the deflector (5) also is displaced upon displacement of the second guide element (9).

    Abstract: A web position and attenuation apparatus includes an elastically deformable body having a first end and a second end opposite the first end, one of the first and second ends configured to be affixed to a frame of a movable vehicle, a web coupling member received on the elastically deformable body, the web coupling member movable relative to, and positionable along, the elastically deformable body, the web coupling member defining a web slot, and a flexible web extending through the web slot, the flexible web part of a restraint system to restrain an occupant of a vehicle seat mounted within the vehicle. The elastically deformable body is responsive to dynamic loads applied by the occupant through the flexible web to the web coupling member to absorb energy and attenuate tension in the flexible web via elastic deformation of the elastically deformable body.

    Abstract: An apparatus for positioning a vehicle restraint is provided herein having a track and a restraint support configured to slide along the track. A positioner is coupled to the restraint support and a motor, coupled to the positioner, is operable to adjust a position of the restraint support. A switch is in communication with the motor and the motor is operable to adjust the position of the restraint support in response an input to the switch. An apparatus for identifying the occupant and automatically positioning of a vehicle restraint is also provided.
