摘要: It is desired to prevent disalignment of the edges of a folded sheet by smoothly feeding the sheet while keeping tension fluctuactions to a minimum when the sheet is unwound from a paper roll set in a paper feed unit to a packaging unit even though the paper roll diameter decreases gradually as the sheet is unwound. A sheet length measuring sensor or rotary encoder is provided in the paper feed path through which the packaging sheet unwound from the paper roll is fed toward the packaging unit. An angle sensor is provided which comprises Hall element sensors provide on a support shaft and magnets provided on a core pipe of the paper roll. Any change is the signals from one of these sensors relative to the signal from the other sensor is used to calculate the paper roll winding length, and the sheet tension is adjusted to an optimum, constant level by controlling the sheet braking force stepwise according to the roll diameter measured by the sensors.

摘要: An apparatus for predicting a location of a sheet being transported along a path of movement after the occurrence of a sheet jam. A sheet jam detecting device is disposed along the path of movement of the sheet. The sheet jam detecting device detects the sheet jam along the path of movement and generates a sheet jam signal. A sensor is operatively associated with the transport to detect the continued movement of the transport after the jam detecting device detects the sheet jam. The sensor generates a transport signal. A processor is in communication with the jam detecting device and the sensor for receiving the sheet jam signal and the transport signal. The detector predicts the location of the sheet as a function of these signals. An apparatus of this type may be used in a printing machine for detecting the location of sheets after the occurrence of a sheet jam.

摘要: The document handling apparatus provides support structure and a plurality of retainers supported by the support structure. Each retainer includes a tray that is configured to hold a stack of sheets. A feed assembly is supported by the support structure and is substantially vertical and has a mid-section. The feed assembly defines an output port configured to output the sheets. The output port is approximate the mid-section so that the average distance from the retainers to the output port is substantially minimized. The apparatus further includes a plurality of pick mechanisms. Each pick mechanism is configured and arranged to pick sheets from one of the retainers and feed the pick sheet into the feed assembly. The apparatus can include an adjustable edge guide pivotally supported by the support structure. The adjustable edge guide is arranged and configured to control the side edge of the stack. The apparatus further includes a recirculating mechanism for picking sheets from the retainers and for sensing the level of a top sheet in the stack. An elevator raises or lowers the tray, thereby adjusting the level of the top sheet in the stack.

摘要: A paper feed control device for controlling a paper feed level, or height, to a predetermined one by moving up and down a tray which is loaded with a stack of papers by a motor or the like. A proportional relation between the number of papers fed as counted by a paper counter and the number of encoder pulses which is associated with an amount of movement of the tray is calculated to determine how many pulses will appear before a near-paper-end condition is reached. Based on a result of the decision, the paper feed is controlled.

摘要: A medium conveying apparatus includes a conveyance roller to convey a medium, a DC motor to drive the conveyance roller, a processor to rotate the DC motor, an encoder to output a first pulse signal whose cycle varies according to a rotation speed of the DC motor, and an imaging device to acquire an image acquired by imaging a conveyed medium in response to a pulse of a second pulse signal whose cycle is constant. The processor detects a number of pulses of the second pulse signal included in a predetermined cycle of the first pulse signal, and discards images acquired by the imaging device in the same number of pulses as difference between the detected number of pulses and a reference number, in a next cycle of the predetermined cycle of the first pulse signal, when the detected number of pulses exceeds the reference number.

摘要: A method of scanning documents and moving such documents along a path such that during scanning a method of improving the documents velocity and the documents image quality is disclosed. The method includes providing a plurality of documents in an input tray and transporting each document along the path from the input tray at a transport velocity past the scanner to obtain scanned image data. By monitoring and controlling the velocity profile of the transport system, the scanning system may provide higher image quality, reduce slippage, misfeeds and jams, and provide alerts to an operator in the even slippage, misfeeds, or jams do occur.

The circuit board is disposed vertically along the feeding direction of the continuous label within the region where a cover-open button to open an opening and closing cover of the printer is disposed.
