Abstract:
This invention relates to dry-cleaning systems which include anhydrous dry-cleaning compositions which contain polysulfonic acid, and a bag for the cleaning and containment of soiled fabric articles. In a first embodiment, the dry-cleaning compositions includes organic solvents, polysulfonic acid, and not more than about 10 wt % water. In a second embodiment, the dry-cleaning compositions includes organic solvents and polysulfonic acid, and not more than 1 about wt % water. The invention also relates to methods of using the dry-cleaning system and dry-cleaning composition.
Abstract:
A system for dry cleaning soils from fabrics comprising densified carbon dioxide and a surfactant in the densified CO.sub.2. The densified carbon dioxide is in a temperature range of about -78.5.degree. C. to about 100.degree. C. and a pressure range of about 14.7 to about 10,000 psi. At least 0.1% by volume of a modifier is preferably present. The surfactant has a polysiloxane, a branched polyalkylene oxide or a halocarbon group which is a functional CO.sub.2 -philic moiety connected to a CO.sub.2 -phobic functional moiety. The surfactant either exhibits an HLB of less than 15 or has a ratio of siloxyl to substituted siloxyl groups of greater than 0.5:1.
Abstract:
A process is provided for manufacturing a high quality cloth having a width of 150 cm or any width in which likelihood of occurrence of defects such as color shading, rub marks, wrinkles and creases due to fabric dyeing method is eliminated and color fastness is enhanced.A process for manufacturing a woven or knit fabric using yarn dyed silk comprises the steps of dyeing (step 3) sericin which covers the periphery of silk fibers and fibroin which is located inside thereof into the same color; making yarn dyed silk (step 4, 5) by doubling and twisting the dyed silk fibers; making a cloth (step 6) by weaving or knitting the yarn dyed silk; swelling (step 7) the yarn dyed silk which constitutes the cloth by dipping the cloth into hot water in a tub; and decomposing (step 8) sericin of the yarn dyed silk of the cloth with an enzyme in hot water in a tub.

Abstract:
A dry cleaning and freshening system is provided including a containment bag, a single unit dispenser having dispensing means, a container, and absorbing means. The container is adapted to contain a quantity of liquid cleaning composition. The single unit dispenser and absorber means includes a dispensing part with absorbent material and a container for holding liquid cleaning composition and a retaining part of absorbent material capable of entraining loose particles and/or absorbing excess liquid cleaning composition. The liquid cleaning composition may include a fragrance composition. In a preferred embodiment the single unit dispenser and absorber means may be in the form of a ball with two hemispheres that split and may be screwed together. The single unit dispenser and absorber means may be used in a home clothes dryer for dry cleaning.
Abstract:
A system for dry cleaning soils from fabrics is described which contains densified carbon dioxide combined with a selected surfactant. The densified carbon dioxide is used in a temperature range of about -78.5.degree. C. to about 100.degree. C. and a pressure range of about 14.7 psi to about 10,000 psi. The surfactant is selected from one of two groups of compounds having a formula ##STR1## as described in the text or a second group of siloxane compounds having a formula [AB].sub.y as described. A process for using the dry cleaning system is also described.
Abstract:
An enzyme composition and a means of reducing the stickiness of honeydew contaminated cotton is disclosed. The composition includes, and the method uses, enzymes such as transglucosidases and pectinases which are capable of hydrolyzing sugars that make-up honeydew.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for bleaching and cleaning fibers of a fiber web. The method and apparatus includes continuously forming and moving a fiber web through a bleaching and cleaning station. Directing ultraviolet light onto the surface of the fiber web forming a bleaching and cleaning line. Selecting an intensity and frequency for the ultraviolet light sufficient to separate micro trash and dust from the fibers while simultaneously destroying pigment of the fibers. Collecting and removing the micro dust and trash while conveying the fiber web to subsequent fiber processing apparatus.
Abstract:
A system for the softening or other treatment of fabric articles is provided which comprises a vented bag comprising a fastening system and flexible sheet releasably impregnated with an effective amount of a liquid fabric-treatment composition.
Abstract:
A hydrocolloid or aqueous solution comprising a poly alpha-1,3-glucan ether compound is disclosed having a viscosity of at least about 10 centipoise (cPs). The poly alpha-1,3-glucan ether compound in these compositions has a degree of substitution of about 0.05 to about 3.0. Also disclosed is a method for increasing the viscosity of a hydrocolloid or aqueous composition using a poly alpha-1,3-glucan ether compound.
