    摘要: A blend of chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE) and amorphous chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) together with an additive of crystalline thermoplastic polyolefin (e.g., ultralow density polyethlene) is presented. This material is easily processed on the rolls of a rubbermill (i.e., calender) to form continuous sheets of membrane suitable for use in single ply roofing and other similar applications. In a preferred embodiment, a membrane formed from the composition of this invention is used as the upper layer of a multilayer single ply roof.

    摘要: A heat seamable flame retardant sheet material for roofing prepared from an uncured polymeric composition of matter which comprises 100 parts by weight of a polymer blend comprising from about 50 to 90 parts by weight of halogenated polyolefins having up to about 2 percent by weight crystallinity, which polyolefins are prepared from monomers having at least 2 carbon atoms, and mixtures thereof and from about 10 to 50 parts by weight of a highly crystalline thermoplasticity promoter selected from the group consisting of polymeric olefins prepared from monomers consisting of at least two carbon atoms; from about 50 to 250 parts by weight of a filler selected from the group consisting of reinforcing and non-reinforcing materials and mixtures thereof per 100 parts of the polymer blend; from about 20 to 105 parts by weight of a processing material and mixtures thereof, per 100 parts of the polymer blend; and from about 15 to 90 parts by weight of an additive selected from the group consisting of flame retardant materials and mixtures thereof, per 100 parts of the polymer blend. A method for covering a roof comprises the steps of applying layers of sheet material as described above to the roof being covered; overlapping adjacent edges of the layers; heating the overlapped areas to slightly above the softening point of the sheet material and seaming the overlapped areas using heat and sufficient pressure to provide an acceptable seam, the composition of matter having sufficient self-adhesion without the use of an adhesive.

    摘要: A rooftop curable heat seamable sheet material for roofing prepared from an uncured polymeric composition of matter comprises a semi-crystalline polymer having more than about 2 percent by weight crystallinity and selected from the group consisting of polyolefins prepared from monomers containing at least 2 carbon atoms, a filler selected from the group consisting of reinforcing and non-reinforcing materials and mixtures a processing material or mixtures thereof; and a cure package capable of allowing the composition of matter to cure at temperatures of at least about 50.degree. C. A method for covering a roof is also provided and comprises the steps of applying layers of rooftop curable sheet material prepared from said uncured heat seamable polymeric composition of matter to the roof being covered; overlapping adjacent edges of the layers; and seaming the overlapping areas under sufficient heat and some pressure to provide acceptable seam strength, the composition of matter being curable at temperatures of at least about 50.degree. C.

    摘要: A roof having an insulating blanket of plastic foam covered by a protective sheath made up of a shell of reinforced concrete covered by a weather-impervious rubbery textured membrane. The membrane and the shell are married together in the sheath, the shell providing load bearing strength and the membrane protecting the shell and preserving its properties. The shell adheres tenaciously to the insulating blanket and the membrane to the shell. In a preferred construction, the sheath forms a protective bonnet having a girdle surrounding the eaves and verge further anchoring the roof covering to the superstructure of the building. Shingles of special construction preferably make up the insulating blanket. Special cement and latex binder compositions are disclosed for the shell and membrane respectively.
