Abstract:
A valve-mechanism-equipped engine having increased combustion efficiency is disclosed. The engine includes intake and exhaust rocker arms having a swing center line inclined relative to a rotation center line of a cam, and an intake valve and an exhaust valve inclined relative to a cylinder. A cam surface is inclined relative to the rotation center line of the cam. Slippers of the intake and exhaust rocker arms are in sliding contact with the cam surface.
Abstract:
The rocker arm assembly has an anti-inversion part that prevents a support pin from inverting, ensuring proper orientation of the support pin, on which a rocker arm is rotatably mounted, is maintained. The anti-inversion part can be a washer, a plate, a plug, or a sleeve. The washer, which has a flat face and a curved face, is intended for use with a cylindrical support pin which matches the curved face of the washer. The plate can include various combinations of tabs, flanges, and/or protrusions that extend in different directions. The plug can resemble any desirable shape, and is removed prior to final assembly. The sleeve can be hollow and is removable.
Abstract:
There is provided a saddle-riding type small vehicle where a power unit is mounted on a vehicle body frame. The power unit includes a valve control device that controls the operation of valve-operation mode changing mechanisms capable of changing operation modes of engine valves, and a clutch control device that controls the operation of a clutch unit provided between a crankshaft and a shift mechanism so as to shift the connection/disconnection of power transmission. In the vehicle, the valve control device and the clutch control device are disposed to balance the center of gravity, so as to make a power unit compact. A valve control device and a clutch control device are disposed on left and right sides of a center line CB of a vehicle in a width direction of the vehicle.
Abstract:
A high expansion ratio internal combustion engine includes: a variable compression ratio mechanism that varies a mechanical compression ratio of the internal combustion engine; and a variable valve train in which some valve(s) of a plurality of intake valves is phase-variable and the remaining valve(s) is phase-fixed, the variable valve train being configured such that a working angle of the phase-variable intake valve is larger than a working angle of the phase-fixed intake valve, wherein a valve-open timing of the phase-variable intake valve is retarded after a valve-open timing of the phase-fixed intake valve when the internal combustion engine is under low-load operating state.
Abstract:
Rocker arm arrangement of an internal combustion engine has a bearing journal with a central axis and an outside circumferential surface running in the central bore of a rocker arm lined with a bearing shell. The bearing journal has a first transverse oil channel leading to at least one outlet at the running surface underneath the central axis. The bearing shell has an outer shell surface and an inner shell surface. The inner shell surface has a circumferentially extending internal groove, both ends of which terminate underneath the central axis, this groove extending to the outlet of the first oil channel when the rocker arm is in its base position. The outer shell surface has at least one circumferentially extending external groove, which extends as far as an inlet of a second oil channel passing through the rocker arm. At least one through-opening connects the internal groove and the external groove.
Abstract:
One possible embodiment of the invention is essentially an apparatus and methodology for mounting a rocker arm assembly to a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine comprising of at least a unitary stanchion to which multiple rocker arms may be moveably connected. In least one embodiment, the unitary stanchion may comprise a base from which project multiple rows of pedestals. Two of more of these rows may be set in essentially parallel orientation, which further defines a primary space in which a portion of the rocker arm is located. The unitary stanchion may be secured to the cylinder head thorough multiple rows of fasteners. The footprint of the base of unitary stanchion could allow the unitary stanchion to possibly act as generally efficient external buttress for generally providing greater support across the top of the cylinder head.
Abstract:
A multi-cylinder barrel internal combustion engine includes a valve actuation mechanism having generally L-shaped rockers for actuating valves in the engine. The rockers are arranged in pairs each pivotally coupled to a common rocker support. The pair of rockers actuate respective valves of an adjacent pair of cylinders in the engine.
Abstract:
An internal combustion engine which includes a valve deactivation mechanism for reducing an output power shock upon changing of the cylinder number. In an internal combustion engine which includes a valve deactivation mechanism driven by a slide pin which is driven by hydraulic pressure, response delay time after a signal is sent to oil control valves until an intake valve and an exhaust valve are activated or deactivated is used to form a control map in response to control parameters, and the valve deactivation mechanism is controlled based on the control map.
Abstract:
A control system for an engine having a first cylinder and a second cylinder is disclosed having a first engine valve movable to regulate a fluid flow of the first cylinder and a first actuator associated with the first engine valve. The control system also has a second engine valve movable to regulate a fluid flow of the second cylinder and a sensor configured to generate a signal indicative of a pressure within the first cylinder. The control system also has a controller that is in communication with the first actuator and the sensor. The controller is configured to compare the pressure within the first cylinder with a desired pressure and selectively regulate the first actuator to adjust a timing of the first engine valve independently of the timing of the second engine valve based on the comparison.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a push rod retainer for retaining an extremity of a push rod and a first end of a rocker arm in proximity of each other, comprising a base section accommodating at least a part of a junction space wherein the extremity of the push rod and a connection member of the rocker arm are joinable; and at least two resilient projections extending from the base section and at least partly in a direction towards each other, said resilient projections bounding a first entrance to the junction space. Also disclosed is a rocker arm having a connection member that is provided with a circumferential constriction configured for engagement by the resilient projections of the disclosed push rod retainer, and a method of retaining together a push rod and a rocker arm.
