    摘要: Embodiments of the current invention entail a highly visible tag that can be attached to a product at a highly visible location on the product at a store, but can easily be removed once the purchaser buys the product and takes it home. Once the purchaser gets the product home, they can remove it themselves and use it in public. Once the tag is removed, it cannot be reattached by the consumer. Depending on the store policy, the product may not be returned, or an extra fee charged for returning the garment, or other similar policies. Absence of a tag makes it clear that the buyer has removed the tag and provides an indication that the product, such as a garment has been used or worn in public. The tag is most effective for products that are used in public, such as garments. The tag may carry EAS technology.

    摘要: Brand-protection codes may be used to maintain authenticity chains for items or tags across a number of different entities. A first entity, such as a tag or item manufacturer, may generate a first brand-protection code (BPC) based on a first key and a tag or item identifier and store the first BPC on a tag associated with an item. A second entity that receives the tag and/or item may attempt to authenticate the first BPC. If the second entity authenticates the first BPC, the second entity may generate an authentication code based on a second key and the first BPC and/or the tag/item identifier, and may write the authentication code to the tag. In some embodiments, the authentication code may be a second brand-protection code, or an exit code that allows the item to exit a facility such as a retail store.

    摘要: Tracking tags for attachment to an object or animal. The tracking tags may include low-power long-range transmitters drawing power from a battery or a renewable energy source. The tracking tags may also each include a microcontroller having a sleep-mode module enabling nearly no quiescent current to be drawn when the microcontroller is in a sleep-mode. The microcontroller may enter into a sleep-mode for long periods of time following a short period of sending data to the low-power long-range transmitter. The short period of sending data may be approximately one-twentieth of the long sleep-mode period. The tracking tags may also include sensors for determining an ambient temperature or biometric data about an animal to which the tracking tag is attached. Locations of the tracking tags may be determined using signal trilateration and/or signal triangulation.
