摘要: In a construction featuring sections of light metal and light-weight composite panels joined to the sections the composite panels feature a plastic core with light weight metal outer sheets bonded to both sides. The outer sheets partially overlap a light metal connecting section which is integrally incorporated in the composite panel and interlock by virtue of fit with that section. The connecting section features connecting strips that lie as pairs on corresponding connecting strips on the section. At least one of the connecting strips is riveted to this neighboring strip. The connecting strip of the connecting section is inclined at an angle with respect to a contact plane in order to create pressure on the neighboring connecting strip, and is joined at its free edge by laser welding to the neighboring connecting strip.

摘要: An implement frame construction includes a fore-and-aft extending apertured tube with transversely extending tool mounting tubes with cross section matching the shape of the apertures. The tubes are inserted through the apertures to provide a mechanical connection not solely reliant on joint weld strength. The resulting joints are fillet welded on both sides of the fore-and-aft tube and provide more bending and torsional resistance than a butt-welded joint without need for gussets. The smaller tube runs continuously through the joint to reduce the number of components and welds necessary for a given frame configuration. The components themselves position the frame tubes relative to each other to simplify weld fixturing and increase resistance to parallelograming. Hinge areas are provided with welded tube-within-tube construction to prevent wall collapse and retain mounting bolt torque. A main frame section is constructed with continuous fore-and-aft extending hitch tubes which transfer loading directly from the transverse tubes to the towing vehicle and include aft ends for supporting trailing hitch structure. Wing frame sections are built with a similar tube construction, and one frame configuration may be used for right or left wings.

摘要: In a weld-coupling portion 3 which is formed by fitting an inner peripheral surface 2b of an end portion of a pump shell 2 to a lower-step surface 4a of a stepped portion 4 formed on an outer peripheral surface of an end portion of a front cover 1 of a torque converter and then welding them together while abutting an end surface 2a of the end portion of the pump shell 2 with a stepped surface 4a of the stepped portion 4 of the front cover 1, the weld-coupling portion 3 is cut down to a level of the lower-step surface 4a of the front cover 1 in such a predetermined cutting width as to evenly cut a front cover side and a pump shell side of the weld-coupling portion 3 in order to separate the front cover 1 and the pump shell 2 apart. A new replacement of the pump shell 2N which has an end portion whose length is larger than that of the end portion of a cut pump shell 2C (not illustrated) by the cutting width W is fit to the lower-step surface 4a of the stepped portion of the end portion of the cut front cover 1C. The end surface 2a of the end portion is abutted with the stepped surface 4b of the end portion of the cut front cover 1C to thereby weld-recouple the cut front cover 1C and the new pump shell 2N.

摘要: The invention provides a method of splicing rolled plates with each other, including the steps of (a) positioning a rear end portion of a leading rolled plate above a front end portion of a following rolled plate by a distance slightly greater than a diameter of a cylindrical cutter having a rotation axis extending in a width-wise direction of the leading and following rolled plates, the positioning being carried out while the leading and following rolled plates are being transferred, (b) cutting an upper surface of the front end portion of the following rolled plate with the cylindrical cutter only within a region at which the following rolled plate is to be spliced with the leading rolled plate, the cutting being carried out in a direction F in which the rolled plates are being transferred, (c) blowing a first reducing flame to the upper surface being cut from above the upper surface in the direction F while the step (b) is being carried out, (d) cutting a lower surface of the rear end portion of the leading rolled plate only within a region at which the leading rolled plate is to be spliced with the following rolled plate, the cutting being carried out in a direction R opposite to the direction F after the step (b) has been completed, (e) blowing a second reducing flame to the lower surface being cut from below the lower surface in the direction R while the step (d) is being carried out, and (f) splicing the leading rolled plate with the following rolled plate by compression at the region after the step (d) has been completed, the reducing flames being blown to both the upper surface of the front end portion of the following rolled plate and the lower surface of the rear end portion of the leading rolled plate until the splicing are completed. The invention also provides an apparatus for carrying out the above mentioned method.

摘要: A process for buttwelding metal workpieces having bevelled joint preparations using an automatic GTAW welder using filler wire includes preparing the bevelled workpiece with bevelled joint areas having minimal land thickness at the root extremities; placing the prepared workpiece joint sections together with an open gap between their adjacent root extremities, the gap having a minimum dimension that avoids harmful compression stress between the workpieces due to weld shrinkage and a maximum dimension that avoids filler wire penetration of the gap; fusion welding the open root area of the adjacent workpieces with a root pass weld using an automatic GTAW welder supplied with filler wire and a shield gas including 1 to 10% hydrogen and the balance inert gas; and then promptly overlaying the root pass weld with at least one additional filler weld pass using an automatic GTAW supplied with filler wire and hydrogen-free shield gas.

摘要: A dual bias weld is an improved weld for joining strips to be formed into coiled tubing. Tubing is formed from a first strip and a second strip, the first and second strips being of the same width. A planar end surface is formed on an end of the first strip, the plane of the planar end surface being defined by a line lying along a top surface of the first strip at an acute angle with respect to the longitudinal direction of the first strip and a line lying along an edge surface of the first strip at an acute angle with respect to the longitudinal of the first strip. Similarly, a planar end surface is formed on an end of the second strip, the plane of the planar end surface being defined by a line lying along a top surface of the second strip at an acute angle with respect to the longitudinal direction of the second strip and a line lying along an edge surface of the second strip at an acute angle with respect to the longitudinal direction of the second strip. A composite strip is formed by welding the planar end surface of the first strip to the planar end surface of the second strip to form a dual bias weld. Excess weldment is then removed from top, bottom and edge surfaces of the composite strip such that the width of the weld is identical to the width of the first and second strips. Coiled metal tubing is then formed from the composite strip.
