摘要: A method for the manufacture of components composed of difficult-to-cut materials for gas turbines, in particular for manufacturing integrally bladed rotors for gas turbine aircraft engines, by producing recesses with one or more side walls, the recesses forming flow channels and the side walls forming blade surfaces, whereby material in the region of the flow channels is removed by a drilling process, and after the drilling process is finished the remaining material in the region of said flow channels is removed by a milling process. The unique combination of a drilling process followed by a milling process completing the material removal reduces significantly the manufacturing time.

摘要: A method for manufacturing a variator component of a continuously variable transmission having a plurality of cylindrical sections and a plurality of ball spline grooves, which are provided alternately in an inner radial region of the variator component. The method includes: simultaneously finishing the cylindrical sections and the ball spline grooves through use of a hard broaching tool; and finishing functional surfaces provided on side surfaces of the variator component while taking the cylindrical sections as a machining reference.

摘要: A clutch housing for a vehicle transmission assembly and a method of making the same. The housing is generally cup-shaped with an axial hub. The outer wall of the housing is formed with a plurality of longitudinal splines of varying configurations. Select splines are formed at an increased depth. A groove is formed in the exterior surface of the housing at a depth sufficient to intersect the select splines of the inner surface thereby forming apertures through the wall of the housing. The dimensions of the apertures are determined by the configuration of the exterior groove and the interior splines.

摘要: A cavity iron golf club head being forme from a metal ingot by a rotary cutting tool that has a conical cutting section and a cylindrical cutting section which are formed into an integral unit in tow stages with the respective cutting surface angles differing from each other. An inner circumferential surface on the head sole side of an indentation formed in the back surface of the metal ingot which has been roughly finished and formed in cut into an overhanging surface shape by the conical cutting section and cylindrical cutting section of the rotary cutting tool, and the other inner circumferential surfaces on the toe and heel sides and on the top side of the metal ingot are cut into upright surface shapes by the cylindrical cutting section of the rotary cutting tool.

摘要: A scroll member is formed using a scroll profile cutter including a first portion generating a diameter equal to the desired width between scroll involute flanks, where the first portion also is of a length determined by a distance between the tip of the cutter and a second portion of greater diameter. The length of the first portion determines the scroll wrap height. Radii are provided at both ends of the first portion of the scroll profile cutter so that a fillet is generated at the base of the corresponding scroll wrap and a radius is generated at the edges of the scroll wrap tip to improve the strength of the scroll wrap and to remove sharp corners which could burr or interfere with the base of the opposing scroll wrap.

摘要: An apparatus and method for high speed production of a multiple gauge metal strip product having a configuration with a transverse variable thickness are described. A milling machine cuts away at least approximately 75% of the total volume of metal to be removed from the surface of the initial strip of metal. This forms a pattern corresponding to the multiple gauge surface desired in the strip product. Then, the milled strip is passed into a shaving device which is located in axial alignment with the milling device. The shaving apparatus shaves off a maximum of about 25% of the total volume of metal to be removed from the surface of the milled strip in a single shaving pass to substantially form the desired configuration of the strip product.

摘要: An arrangement for removing excess material from an object surface, to provide a desired finished surface. Holes are drilled into the object so that the bottoms of the holes lie on the desired finished surface. The holes have a shape so that the observed hole diameter at the prevailing surface of the object is dependent on the hole depth and thereby dependent on the amount of material remaining to be removed between the prevailing surface and the desired finished surface. The prevailing surface is continuously observed and measured, and the depths of material to be removed in a sequence of steps is calculated dependent on the measurements of the prevailing surface and the coordinates of the desired finished surface. As a result of the calculations, the depth of material removed during each step is controlled, so that upon carrying out a sequence of such steps, the surface exposed on the object after the last step has been carried out, coincides with the desired finished surface. The accuracy of the material removal equipment may be substantially less than the accuracy of the finished surface.
