摘要: Provided are two-dimensional chromatography systems and methods for separating and/or analyzing complex mixtures of organic compounds. In particularly, a two-dimensional reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RPLC)-supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) system is described including a trapping column at the interface which collects the analytes eluted from the first dimension chromatography while letting the RPLC mobile phase pass through. The peaks of interest from the RPLC dimension column are effectively focused as sharp concentration pulses on the trapping column, which is subsequently injected onto the second dimension SFC column. The system can be used for simultaneous achiral and chiral analysis of pharmaceutical compounds. The first dimension RPLC separation provides the achiral purity result, and the second dimension SFC separation provides the chiral purity result (enantiomeric excess).

摘要: A computer-implemented method and corresponding system for determining the concentration of one or more scale inhibiting polymers in a fluid received from one or more porous and permeable hydrocarbon-bearing rock formations is provided. Each polymer comprises a different chemical marker and the fluid comprises a plurality of commingled said scale inhibiting polymers. The method comprises receiving first input data representing a measured absorption spectrum, within a predetermined wavelength range, of the commingled scale inhibiting polymers, wherein the measured absorption spectrum is measured using a detector after chromatographic separation of the fluid; receiving second input data representing reference absorption spectra, the reference absorption spectra comprising: a) an absorption spectrum, over the predetermined wavelength range, of each of the scale inhibiting polymers; and b) baseline reference absorption spectra of other chemicals having absorbance values within the predetermined wavelength range that are expected to be present in the fluid; inputting the first and second input data into a computer program; and operating the computer program. The computer program is operated to, at each of a plurality of discrete time steps over an elution time from the separation, determine a factor for each reference absorption spectrum that results in a modelled spectrum comprising a best-fit linear combination of the second input data to the first input data. For each scale inhibiting polymer, the computer program also operates to use the factors corresponding to the absorption spectrum of said scale inhibiting polymer that have been determined for a predetermined number of said discrete time steps to determine an indication of the concentration of the scale inhibiting polymer.

摘要: An optical interrogation system, e.g., an OFDR-based system, measures local changes of index of refraction of a medium contained within a light guiding tube and includes an optical interferometric interrogator, optical detection circuitry, and a data processor. The data processor initiates a sweep of the light source and guide light from an interrogating light source into a medium contained by a tube which restricts movement of particles provided into the tube, where the medium is subjected to a driving force that overcomes resistance to movement of particles through the medium in the tube. The optical interferometric interrogator provides an optical interference pattern associated with a group of particles having moved in the tube as a result of the driving force. Based on the optical interference pattern, the data processor identifies a current location of the group of particles in the tube.

摘要: A method for detecting analytes in flow rate analysis and chromatography is described. The method comprises the following steps: a) providing one or more light sources, an optical wave guide, a container containing a specimen with one or more analytes, and one or more detectors; b) exposing the container containing the specimen to light of one or various, defined wavelengths and/or wavelength ranges; and c) detecting the resulting light waves by one or more detectors after the specimen container is exposed to light of one or various defined wavelengths and/or wavelength ranges, wherein the specimen is irradiated by transferring the light waves through an non-flexible or non-flexibly arranged optical wave guide before the light waves enter the specimen container. The non-flexible or non-flexibly arranged optical wave guide is not susceptible to interference and permits selective irradiation with one or more wavelengths sequentially or simultaneously without requiring much time.
