摘要: A noise cancellation system for an audio system such as a mobile phone handset, or a wireless phone headset has a first input for receiving a first audio signal from one or more microphone positioned to receive ambient noise, and a second input for receiving a second audio signal from a microphone positioned to detect the user?s speech, as well as a third input for receiving a third audio signal for example representing the speech of a person to whom the user is talking. A first noise cancellation block receives the first audio signal and generates a first noise cancellation signal, and this is combined with the third audio signal to form a first audio output signal. A second noise cancellation block receives at least a part of the first audio signal and said second audio signal and applying noise cancellation to generate a second audio output signal.

摘要: This invention concerns an electronic device for the control and readout of the electron or hole spin of a single dopant in silicon. The device comprises a silicon substrate in which there are one or more ohmic contact regions. An insulating region on top of the substrate. First and second barrier gates spaced apart to isolate a small region of charges to form an island of a Single Electron Transistor (SET). A third gate over-lying both the first and second barrier gates, but insulated from them, the third gate being able to generate a gate-induced charge layer (GICL) in the ESR line substrate beneath it. A fourth gate in close proximity to a single dopant donor gate atom, the dopant atom being encapsulated in the substrate outside the region of the GICL but close enough to allow spin-dependent charge tunnelling between the dopant atom and the SET island under the control of gate potentials, mainly the fourth gate. In use either the third or fourth gate also serve as an Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) line to control the spin of the single electron or hole of the dopant atom. In a further aspect it concerns a method for using the device.

摘要: An optical device comprises a semiconductor structure including first and second ridge waveguides, each waveguide comprising a ridge extending across a surface of the semiconductor structure. The ridge of the first waveguide has a first height above a first region of the surface, and the ridge of the second waveguide has a second, greater, height above a second region of the surface. The semiconductor structure includes a multimode interference (MMI) region situated between the first and second ridge waveguides, which provides a transition between them. At least a part of the MMI region is tapered in width and/or at least a part of the first and/or second ridge waveguide is tapered in width in a direction extending away from the MMI region.

摘要: This invention relates to an automotive air filter assembly, in particular, an assembly which includes an air flow chamber portion and a liquid reservoir portion. The air flow portion includes a panel filter for filtering air flowing to an engine. The panel filter includes air filtration media and hydrocarbon absorption media to inhibit release of hydrocarbon vapours to the air on engine shut down. The air flow portion also may include resonance chambers for acoustic silencing purposes. The liquid reservoir portion can include a pump for delivery of fluid such as windshield washer fluid.

摘要: A method for designing a computational device or circuit having one or more desired characteristics, preferably input and/or output characteristics. The method involves using an inner, iterative search that is preferably used within one or more genetic operators. As a first step, one of a population of computational circuits or devices is selected. Once this is done a point in the selected circuit or device is chosen and characterised in terms of the circuit inputs and/or outputs. A parameter or characteristic associated with the selected point is then modified and the point is re-characterised. This is repeated to provide characterisations for a plurality of modified versions of the circuit. Then, the circuit that has characteristics closest to the desired characteristics is identified and added to the population of circuits, and the inner search loop is repeated for another one of the population. At the same time, an outer search, preferably within an evolutionary algorithm, is used to iteratively search the population to determine the circuits or devices having characteristics that are closest to the desired characteristics.

摘要: A humeral fracture fixation system is provided and includes a nail-plate fixation device having a plate-like head portion, an intramedullary nail portion, and a bent neck portion therebetween which creates an angle between the plate and nail portions. The upper surface of the nail portion is substantially straight for contact with the endosteum and the nail portion includes threaded holes for machine screws. The head portion includes locking holes for receiving fixed-angle bone support elements, and K-wire alignment holes. The front of the head portion includes suture holes while presenting a smooth profile. A specific implantation jigs and a screw guide cannula are also provided.
