Abstract:
The invention includes a method for converting from an interlace scan image to a progressive scan image. Interpolated rows of pixels, lying between successive rows of the interlace scan image, are generated based upon the received interlace scan rows. The method determines a degree of movement, if any, in the region of a target pixel, and whether a target pixel lies on an edge between visually distinct regions. Multiple potential interpolated values for the target pixel are generated by several interpolation methods, including edge interpolation, inter-field interpolation, non-linear interpolation, and intra-field interpolation. The system uses the degree of movement and edge detection to select or combine one or more of the potential values for the target pixel. At least one correction filter is applied to the result, to correct errors caused by electrical noise in the interlace scan image.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a body panel assembly for a vehicle. The method includes providing first and second panels, applying an adhesive, positioning the first and second panels, hemming the first and second panels together to form a subassembly, applying a coating to at least a portion of the subassembly, and heating the subassembly to at least partially melt the adhesive.
Abstract:
An enhanced optical delay line device for providing multiple degree of freedom active control, including first and second actively-controlled mirrors, each of the actively-controlled mirrors having two rotational degrees of freedom and one translational degree of freedom. The first actively-controlled mirror is mounted substantially orthogonally to the second actively-controlled mirror. The system also includes a closed-loop control system, the control system providing six mechanical degrees of freedom of active control for the enhanced optical delay line device by controlling the first and second actively-controlled mirrors based upon a command input and mirror position signals. The present invention is smaller than conventional optical delay line devices, has better performance, and eliminates the need for one of the FSMs, bringing the total number of mechanisms down to two from three.
Abstract:
Intuitive indicators are presented to the user of a communications device in order to reduce the time it takes the user to launch an application and carry out a communication session, such as an on-line game. Each indicator may be updated by an agent that acts as a proxy for the device even when the device is inactive. Some examples of the indicators presented are: those individuals presently available to play a specific game with the user; the games that are played most often by the user; and those individuals that the user plays games with most often.
Abstract:
A supplemental tailgate extends from the tailgate frame of a pickup truck and is positionable in multiple orientations to provide a variety of uses, including as an extension of the pickup truck bed. The supplemental tailgate includes a cross member connected between two telescoping supports, which forms a part of the tailgate molding when stored within the main tailgate structure. A lock rod assembly interconnects the supplemental tailgate and the body of the pickup truck to stabilize the position of the extended supplemental tailgate when positioned perpendicular to the opened main tailgate. The lock rod assembly can be formed as flexible cables that can be housed within the cross member for easy deployment when needed. The lock rod assembly can also be formed as fixed length rods that are pivotally mounted on the cross member and stored within the cross member for easy deployment.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to an implanted microphone having reduced sensitivity to vibration. In this regard, the microphone differentiates between the desirable and undesirable vibration by utilizing at least one motion sensor to produce a motion signal when an implanted microphone is in motion. This motion signal is used to yield a microphone output signal that is less vibration sensitive. In a first arrangement, the motion signal may be processed with an output of the implantable microphone transducer to provide an audio signal that is less vibration-sensitive than the microphone output alone. Specifically, the motion signal may be scaled to match the motion component of the microphone output such that upon removal of the motion signal from the microphone output, the remaining signal is an acoustic signal.
Abstract:
A method and system for determining an automobile insurance rate for a person by measuring a person's ability to perform a task or series of tasks, wherein the measurement correlates to a risk of loss. After the identity of the person seeking insurance is challenged and verified, a user interface device, such as a kiosk or the user's computer, is used to render an interactive test that measures, for example, the person's dexterity and metal concentration. The test results are collected electronically and analyzed to provide one or more scores based on the abilities of the person to finish the test objectives. The score is used to derive a driving-abilities rate factor based on actuarial methodology and statistical data. The driving-abilities rate factor can then be used in combination with other underwriting factors to determine the automobile insurance rate for that person.
