Abstract:
A furniture item includes two massage elements that are each operated to generate a vibration that can be transmitted into the furniture item, where the vibrations create a joint vibrational wave. The frequency of each vibration can be continuously varied within a predetermined frequency range. The shifting frequencies of the massage elements cause the peaks and troughs of the wave of the vibrational wave to move across the furniture element to create the sensation of a moving vibration for a user resting on the furniture item.
Abstract:
An acupressure pillow includes pressure members that are interconnected by an elastic member and arranged so that, when the user rests a body part (e.g., head or neck) on the pillow between the pressure members, the pressure members automatically adjust to accommodate the body part and produce pressure on the body part due at least in part to the elastic member, which biases the pressure members toward one another. Thus, the pressure exerted on the body part may have different vector components, including some pressure produced essentially perpendicular to the pillow surface on which the body part rests and some pressure produced at other angles due to the shape of the pressure members and the inward force on the pressure members produced by the elastic member.
Abstract:
A device or system useful for temporarily reducing the appearance of cellulite and increasing local circulation, including a base with an array of protrusions having a size, shape, durometer and spacing selected to indent a user's skin under pressure. A user may position the device such that the protrusions are in contact with skin or separated from the skin by thin fabric, and then apply pressure to cause the protrusions to indent but not penetrate the skin.
Abstract:
A therapeutic mat is described. The mat provides therapeutic relief in the form of vibratory motion and/or heat. The mat or pad is particularly useful as a floor mat in a vehicle. The mat includes provisions to enable powering the mat from a 12-volt direct current source, such as used in an automobile or other vehicle. A massage module can be removed from the mat to facilitate cleaning of the mat. The mat may also include one or more upwardly extending provisions for massaging the arch region of a user's feet. Also described are illuminated mats. The lights of a mat can operate based upon the operation of another mat, pulsations of the massage module, or based upon acoustic levels in the vehicle.
Abstract:
A muscle relief device comprises a main body, at least one sensor unit, at least one relief part and at least one control unit. The relief part including at least one massage unit for massaging muscles of a user. The sensor unit includes at least one contact sensor for detecting the contact area of the user. The control unit connects the relief part and the sensor unit, receiving a detected data from the sensor unit and controlling operation modes of the relief part. The relief part, the sensor unit, and the control unit are arranged on the main body.
Abstract:
A portable vibration device for soothing an infant. The portable vibration device includes a vibration pad portion, a control pad connected and a neck portion. The neck portion extends between the vibration pad and the control pad. A vibration circuit is provided to control a vibration element in the vibration pad. The circuit electrically connects the control pad to the vibration pad. A cushion is provided around the vibration pad portion and a cover is disposed around the cusion and the internal components of the vibration device.
Abstract:
A percussive massager is provided with a housing, a cushion, a percussive drive unit having a massage head with four spaced apart massage nodes, and a cover surrounding the massager. The nodes diametrically extend outwardly or upwardly from the exterior cushion surface to effect a rhythmic percussion to a user. The cover has at least two apertures through which the nodes protrude, and a flap extending over at least two of the massage nodes. The flap has a fastener to allow for removal of the flap from the cover. A percussive massager is also provided with a motor housing, a motor with a rotary output shaft, an elongated flexible rocker arm pivotally connected to the motor housing, and a massage node connected to an end region of the rocker arm. The flexible rocker arm deflects to provide compliance when the node contacts a massage surface.
Abstract:
Method and devices for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers are described in which a portable support assembly may be worn by a bed-stricken individual around particular regions of the body where pressure ulcers tend to form. The portable support assembly may generally include one or more individual fluid filled pods which are enclosed entirely within an inner fluid pad localized along a central portion. Both the one or more pods and inner fluid pad are then enclosed entirely by another layer of fluid within an outer fluid pad which extends over the entire assembly. Each of the fluid lavers may be secured to an outer shell which is relatively stiffer than the fluid layers and may restrict or limit the expansion or movement of the fluid pods and/or fluid pads.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an inflatable device comprising an electromechanical device and a self-sealing valve, and in particular, to any inflatable device that includes the assembly. In some embodiments, at least a portion of a fluid controller is coupled to and supported by an inflatable bladder of an inflatable device. The fluid controller may be located in a compartment, and the compartment may be within the profile of the bladder. The inflatable device may be a single bladder mattress or a dual bladder mattress. The inflatable device may include a heater or an articulation device. The inflatable device may be multi-positional device or have a storage compartment. The inflatable device may be configurable using one or more members such as a membrane or fasteners.
Abstract:
This disclosure concerns a wireless communication system adapted to establish a feedback protocol between a handheld remote control and at least an adjustable bed controller, the handheld remote control having a memory position user interface adapted to initiate a transmission of a position recall command from the handheld remote control to an adjustable bed controller using the feedback protocol to adjust a position of a bed segment to a preset position from within a predetermined range of acceptable positions stored in memory. The adjustable bed controller is adapted to initiate a communication from the adjustable bed controller to the handheld remote to indicate that the adjustable bed controller has responded to the position recall command.
