Abstract:
Smart meter media access control (MAC) for single user, multiple user, multiple access, and/or MIMO wireless communications. Different types of wireless communication devices may be implemented within various wireless communication systems. Some of these devices may be implemented to communicate sensing and/or measurement to one or more other devices. For example, certain devices may be implemented to perform monitoring associated with any of a number of services provided by service providers (e.g., electricity, natural gas, water, Internet access, telephone service, and/or any other service). In accordance with such sensing and/or measurement related applications, a given device need not necessarily be awake or at a fully operative state at all times. Appropriate coordination, scheduling, communication medium access, etc. among potentially many implemented devices ensures effective communication and gathering of such sensing and/or measurement related data (e.g., using one or more service period (SP) announcements, various communication medium access options, etc.).
Abstract:
A multimode battery charger circuit supporting switch mode and linear mode charging operations. In various embodiments, the multimode battery charging circuit includes mode control circuitry, a linear gate driver, a pulse width modulation (PWM) control circuit, a programmable constant current control loop circuit, and a programmable constant voltage control loop circuit. In operation, the mode control circuitry receives a charge mode indication signal corresponding to a desired charge mode. Based on this signal, the mode control circuitry enables either the linear gate driver or PWM control circuit to provide control signals to output transistors coupled between an adapter power port and a battery pack, thereby supporting a plurality of charging modes. In some embodiments, one or more of the output transistors are formed on a common substrate with the multimode battery charger circuit.
Abstract:
A mesh grid protection system is provided. The system includes assertion logic configured to transmit a first set of signals on a first set of grid lines and a second set of grid lines. The system also includes transformation logic to transform the first set of signals to generate a second set of signals, to transmit the second set of signals on a third set of grid lines that are coupled to the first set of grid lines, and to transmit the second set of signals on a fourth set of grid lines that are coupled to the second set of grid lines. In addition, the system includes verification logic to compare the second set of signals on the third and fourth set of grid lines to an expected set of signals.
Abstract:
Methods relating to managing operations of small cells are provided. One method includes receiving, from a management system configured to manage one or more operations of a plurality of small cells, a plurality of fractional frequency reuse (FFR) patterns for a frequency range. Each FFR pattern is configured to define a plurality of cell groupings, each including one or more of the plurality small cells. Each of the plurality of cell groupings is configured to transmit downlink transmissions over a different one of a plurality of frequency bands within the frequency range. The method further includes selecting a first FFR pattern from among the plurality of FFR patterns received from the management system and transmitting downlink transmissions in accordance with the first FFR pattern.
Abstract:
A communication device (alternatively, device) includes a processor configured to support communications with other communication device(s) and to generate and process signals for such communications. In some examples, the device includes a communication interface and a processor, among other possible circuitries, components, elements, etc. to support communications with other communication device(s) and to generate and process signals for such communications. Such a communication device includes a processor configured to perform codeword builder functionality to generate information that undergoes error checking and correction (ECC) and/or forward error correction (FEC) coding. The processor intelligently selects packets from buffers to generate information blocks that undergo ECC and/or FEC coding and transmission and to meet certain latency constraints in conjunction with a predetermined period of time (e.g., a programmable threshold). Such a communication device may be implemented in a point-to-multipoint communication system that services multiple other communication devices.
Abstract:
Method, operation of a method, and a result of execution of computer program instructions embodied on a non-transitory computer readable memory in a mobility management entity which determines whether a source and destination address of certain Internet protocol data flow are within a specific network in an evolved packet system for evaluating and controlling potential opportunities for device to device communication among two or more proximately located user equipment. In response to determining that the target serving gateway is the source gateway, identification information of the source user equipment is sent to a target serving gateway.
Abstract:
A device and method for providing an adaptive bit rate (ABR) proxy is disclosed. An ABR proxy determines an optimal data format to receive content segments for an audio/video (AV) content item from a source ABR server, and generates, based on that format and/or current network conditions, one or more local AV representations for providing content segments for the AV content item to locally connected devices. A local client device selects a local AV representation, and the ABR proxy provides the content segments for the AV content item to the local device in accordance with the selected local AV representation.
Abstract:
An outer encoder encodes input data signal to generate a first encoded signal. An inner encoder encodes a subset of the input data to generate a second encoded signal, wherein the inner encoder has a different forward error correction (FEC) than the outer encoder. A symbol mapper processes the first encoded signal and the second encoded signal to generate a sequence of discrete-valued modulation symbols.
