Abstract: A decoder, encoder and corresponding system are disclosed for providing fast Forward Error Correcting (FEC) decoding and encoding of syndrome-based error correcting codes. Three-parallel processing is performed by elements of the system. More particularly, in an illustrative embodiment, a decoder performs three-parallel syndrome generation and error determination and calculations, and an encoder performs three-parallel encoding. Low power and complexity techniques are used to save cost and power yet provide relatively high speed encoding and decoding.

Abstract: The present invention provides compositions containing a common ligand linked to a detectable moiety and provides methods for the preparation of such compositions. The present invention also provides methods for screening candidate ligands for binding to a NAD binding receptor, which include contacting a receptor with a candidate ligand and a composition of the invention followed by evaluation of receptor binding. The screening method of the present invention has broad applicability and can be used to screen large numbers of a wide variety of ligands. The present invention further provides methods for detecting the binding activity of a putative receptor, which include combining the putative receptor with a composition of the invention and evaluating the level of detectable moiety. The invention also provides kits useful for detection of receptors having NAD binding activity and for screening of candidate ligands that bind to a NAD binding receptor.

Abstract: A computer-implemented process for controlling a vehicle interior includes detecting a previously defined situation that relates to an undesirable environmental condition of the vehicle interior, and assessing both a risk level and an urgency level, based on a vehicle sensor input and vehicle historical records. The process also includes generating a vehicle command based upon the detected previously defined situation, the assessed risk level, and assessed urgency level, and executing the generated vehicle command to control at least one of an engine, a window, and a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) unit to modify an environmental condition of the vehicle interior. The process also comprises performing in a cyclically recurring manner, until the detected previously defined situation is resolved, re-assessing the risk level, the urgency level, or both, re-generating a vehicle command, and executing the re-generated vehicle command.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display (LCD) system is provided. The LCD system includes a light source and a self-contained display unit including at least a LCD panel and a light guide plate coupled together, wherein the light guide plate is configured to guide light from the light source to the LCD panel as backlight and to structurally support the LCD panel. Further, a plurality of pre-made hollow spaces are contained in the display unit configured to host components of the LCD system. The LCD system also includes a controller contained in the plurality of pre-made hollow spaces and coupled to the LCD panel to control the LCD panel such that the light passing through the light guide plate is used as backlight for operation of the LCD panel.
