摘要: A manufacturing method of a waveguide and a head mounted display device having the waveguide are provided. The head mounted display device includes a display unit, a first waveguide and a second waveguide. The display unit is configured to provide an image beam. The first waveguide is located between the display unit and the second waveguide. The first waveguide is configured to transmit the image beam to the second waveguide and adjust a light shape of the image beam to maintain a field angle and expand a pupil in a single dimension. The second waveguide is configured to transmit the image beam to outside of the head mounted display device, and the second waveguide can extend a light transmission path and provide a uniform image beam.

摘要: An optical waveguide system with angle-multiplexing polarization volume gratings and an electronic device are disclosed. The system comprises: a waveguide; an input coupler coupling a combined image light for a combined image into the waveguide; and an output coupler coupling the combined image light out of the waveguide. The combined image light includes a first image light for a first image and a second image light for a second image, which are combined to from the combined image. The first image light and the second image light have different polarizations. The output coupler includes first and second output polarization volume gratings, which are optimized for different polarizations, respectively, wherein the first output polarization volume grating couples the first image light out of the waveguide, and the second output polarization volume grating couples the second image light out of the waveguide.

In one aspect, a flux of light emitted in a first direction by the light extracting features is greater than 70% of a total flux emitted from the light emitting regions, the light emitting regions have an average luminous transmittance greater than 70%, and the outermost surface of the device has an ASTM D523-89 60 degree gloss less than 50 gloss units. In one aspect, the device is a light fixture and the color of the object, such as a wall or ceiling, behind the film is unchanged when looking through the film.

摘要: A lightguide functioning as a luminaire. The luminaire includes at least one solid state light source, such as an LED, and a lightguide configured to receive light from the solid state light source. Light from the light source is coupled into the lightguide and transported within it by total internal reflection until the light exits the lightguide. A shape of the lightguide causes and directs extraction of the light, and can also be used to create a particular pattern of the extracted light. Such shapes include linear wedges and twisted wedges. Optical films can be included on the light input and output surfaces of the lightguide.
