    Abstract: Described herein are examples of material testing systems that allow operators to use data importation devices to automatically import data into input fields of a graphical user interface (GUI) associated with a material testing workflow. Such automatic importation helps to avoid potential errors in manual entry. Additionally, the material testing system allows operators to advance the material testing workflow (and/or GUI) from one state to another, thereby reducing the need (and/or time needed) for an operator to switch back and forth between the data importation device(s) and a separate input device.

    Abstract: A control module of a label printing apparatus includes memory configured to store item data and shelf label data indicative of an ID of an electronic shelf label (ESL) for the item, and at least one communication module configured to: receive, from an external device, an update request to make at least one change to the item data and communicate an ESL update request to the ESL to make the at least one change at the ESL. A processor of the control module is configured to: update the item data stored in the memory according to the update request; determine if the ESL has been updated in dependence on whether an acknowledgement is received from the ESL; and if the ESL has not been updated, control the communication module to output an alert signal to indicate that the ESL is out of sync with the label printing apparatus.

    Abstract: Described herein are examples of tool based welding technique monitoring systems with sloped workpiece calibrations. Using two calibration steps (or one fluid calibrating movement), the disclosed system is able to monitor welding technique along a straight welding joint of any slope, be the slope 0/180/360 degrees (i.e., horizontal), 90/270 degrees (i.e., vertical), or any slope in between. The system provides an inexpensive, intuitive, and relatively robust way of tracking an orientation of a welding-type tool in relation to a welding joint and/or workpiece, and providing welding technique feedback based on the relationship.
