A locking device for locking a displaceable motor vehicle part which is lockable by the means of the locking device within a displacement range in a respective rest position reached by displacement is provided. The locking device comprising a braking device with at least two braking elements which interacts in a braking manner in a respective rest position of the motor vehicle part in order to lock the motor vehicle part, and which can be brought into a position without braking engagement by inducing a release force into the braking device. An actuator is assigned to the locking device, which is optionally combinable with the braking device and with which a displacement movement of the motor vehicle part is brakable for locking the motor vehicle part.

A vehicle includes sidewalls, a tailgate located proximate to rear ends of the sidewalls, and a tailgate energy management system. The tailgate energy management system includes a governor coupled to one of the sidewalls and to the tailgate. The governor selectively applies a governing force to the tailgate to reduce an opening speed of the tailgate. The tailgate energy management system also includes a speed sensor sensing an opening speed of the tailgate and an electronic control unit electronically coupled to the governor and the speed sensor. The electronic control unit includes a processor and memory storing an instruction set. The electronic control unit receives a speed signal indicative of the opening speed of the tailgate and the processor executes the instruction set to cause the electronic control unit to transmit a control signal to the governor to slow the opening speed of the tailgate based on the speed signal.

In order to avoid a vehicle door hitting the ceiling or wall when the door opens, it is necessary to provide an open-limiting device for holding the door at any open angle. The door is opened with a gear in the open-limiting device. In the open-limiting device for a vehicle door, a ratchet engages with or disengage from the gear by an electric actuator, so that the door is held at any open angle. When the ratchet engages with the gear, the ratchet is capable of disengaging from the gear only if the door is closed, but the ratchet remains in engagement with the gear if the door is opened. So the door can be closed manually by a small force.

The drive unit (22) is supported in the vehicle by way of a support component (40) and the support component (40) acts as a counterbearing for a torque of the drive unit (22). A coupling device (72) is disposed between the drive unit (22) and the support component (40), said coupling device facilitating a rotation of the drive unit (22) about the axis of rotation Z-Z when a limit of the torque acting on the drive unit is exceeded.

The force from a drive rod driven by an electric motor is transmitted via a link arm pivotally linked to the drive rod and a back door. When the back door is operated in an open direction, the link arm is supported by an open-side support slider and the acting direction of the force applied to the link arm by the drive rod is shifted to the opening direction of the back door. When the back door is operated in a closing direction, the link arm is supported by a closed-side support slider and a closed-side support roller and the acting direction of the force applied to the link arm by the drive rod is shifted to the closing-direction of the back door. The open-side and closed-side support sliders are pressed against the link arm by leaf spring members so that the link arm is prevented from oscillating between the sliders.
