Abstract: A communication management resource receives input indicating presence of a pair of wireless stations including a first wireless station and a second wireless station in a network environment. Based on a determined amount of adjacent channel interference between the first wireless station and the second wireless station, the communication management resource generates an adjacent channel interference value. The communication management resource assigns the adjacent channel interference value to the pair of wireless stations. The adjacent channel interference value indicates an estimate of adjacent channel interference between the first wireless station and the second wireless station. In a network of wireless stations, the adjacent channel interference value is used as a basis to identify pairs of wireless stations that are susceptible to adjacent channel interference. A wireless channel allocation management resource uses the adjacent channel interference information to allocate wireless channels for use by wireless stations to reduce adjacent channel interference.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for enhancing communication and performance for a device backhauled by a wireline communication network. In one embodiment, the device comprises a small-cell or other wireless base station that is backhauled by a DOCSIS system within a managed HFC network, and the method and apparatus enable enhanced communication between the small cell/base station and the backhaul network so as to support “rate matching” between the device to mitigate packet overflow or other issues. In one implementation, enhanced cable modem (CM) and base station devices coordinate to inform the base station of the modulation order (and/or other parameters related to transmission of the data destined for the base station on the backhaul) so that the base station can selectively invoke utilization of higher-order modulation and/or coding schemes, as well as spatial multiplexing or beamforming.

Abstract: Methods and systems for determining and using disliked content are described. The method includes obtaining, by a service provider system, channel viewing data from a user device of a user, pre-processing, by a content analysis unit, the channel viewing data to mitigate inaccuracies and inconsistencies in the channel viewing data, scaling, by the content analysis unit, the pre-processed channel viewing data to highlight temporal dislike aspects of the pre-processed channel viewing data, applying, by the content analysis unit, machine learning algorithms to the scaled channel viewing data to generate a disliked content ratings matrix, and outputting, by the content analysis unit to user interface systems in the service provider system, to provide enhanced user viewing. The user interface systems including a recommender system, an alternate content generation system, or both.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for reducing base station downlink transmission power in a manner that provides one or more devices being serviced by the base station time to establish or switch to another connection are described. The methods and apparatus are particularly well suited for system where base stations may be instructed by a control device to reduce or stop downlink power to a point where downlink data transmission is not supportable. In various embodiments a base station responds to a downlink power reduction instruction by reducing downlink transmission power in downlink slots in a serious of power reduction steps. In cases where the required power reduction is to a point where downlink data transmission can not be supported, the base station signals that it is switching to a no DL slot mode of operation in which downlink slots are not supported but UL slots will continue to be supported.

Abstract: The presentation invention relates to methods and apparatus for managing cable network power consumption. An exemplary method in accordance with one embodiment includes the steps of: receiving, by a cable modem positioned between a cable modem termination system (CMTS) and a wireless base station, CMTS buffer information; receiving, by the cable modem, wireless base station buffer information; switching, by the cable modem, from a first mode of operation to a second mode of operation after performing one or both of: (i) transmitting uplink data to the CMTS, and (ii) transmitting downlink data to the wireless base station, the second mode of operation being a power savings modem of operation; remaining in the power savings mode of operation for a first time period, the first time period being based on at least one of said CMTS buffer information or said wireless base station buffer information.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for performing targeted filtering of network traffic generated by user equipment (UE) devices connected to a customer premise equipment (CPE) device in a communication system that includes a distributed residential gateway. A network server may determine that the communication system includes a UE device that is compromised, misconfigured, or operating outside normal communication parameters, identify the UE device, determine an Internet protocol (IP) address or a media access control (MAC) address of the identified UE device, generate a quarantine request message that includes the IP address or the MAC address of the identified UE device in response to determining that the preconfigured virtual local area network access control list (VACL) on the CPE lists source IP addresses from which the CPE will filter outbound traffic, and send the generated quarantine request message to a bridged residential gateway (BRG) associated with the CPE device.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing quasi-licensed spectrum access within an area or venue. In one embodiment, the quasi-licensed spectrum utilizes 3.5 GHz CBRS (Citizens Broadband Radio Service) spectrum allocated by a Federal or commercial SAS (Spectrum Access System) to a managed content delivery network that includes one or more wireless access nodes (e.g., CBSDs and APs) in data communication with a controller. In one variant, the controller dynamically allocates (i) spectrum within the area or venue within CBRS bands, and (ii) MSO users or subscribers to CBRS bands or WLAN (e.g., public ISM) bands in to manage interference between the coexisting networks, and maximize user experience. In another variant, the controller cooperates with a provisioning server to implement a client device application program or “app” on MSO user or subscriber client devices which enables inter-RAT access.
