Abstract:
Methods of making polymeric devices, such as stents, using solvent based processes. More particularly, methods of making bioabsorbable stents.
Abstract:
Methods of making polymeric devices, such as stents, with one or more modifications such as addition of plasticizers, to improve processing, and the devices made by these methods.
Abstract:
A scaffold strut is shaped to improve hemocompatibility. The scaffold is made from a tube having variable wall thickness. Methods are disclosed for modifying the thickness of the tube in such a way as to achieve a reduced hemodynamic profile, but without significantly affecting strength properties in areas where stress concentrations exist when the scaffold is loaded.
Abstract:
A method of laser machining a polymer construct to form a stent that includes a bioresorbable polymer and an absorber that increases absorption of laser energy during laser machining. The laser cuts the tubing at least in part by a multiphoton absorption mechanism and the polymer and absorber have a very low absorbance or are transparent to light at the laser wavelength.
Abstract:
An implantable sent comprises a radiopaque marker that provides a structural connection between two parts made of a polymer substrate material. The two parts can be one bending element of one radially expandable ring and another bending element of an adjacent expandable ring. The two parts can be two bending elements of the same radially expandable ring. The radiopaque marker can be in the form of an entire radially expandable ring.
Abstract:
An apparatus for loading material into a stent strut can comprise a cover sleeve. The cover sleeve is elastic so that it can reduce in diameter so as to press against the stent strut, and expand in diameter so as to be spaced apart from the stent strut. The stent strut can include a lumen into which material is injected. When pressed against the stent strut, the cover sleeve seals side openings to the lumen and prevents injected material from leaking out of the side openings during the injection process.
Abstract:
Methods of making biodegradable polymeric devices, such as stents, with one or more modifications to alter the degradation rate, and the biodegradable polymeric devices are described. Modifications include blending of two polymers, one with a different degradation rate, inclusion of additives to alter the degradation rate, and the use of polymers of a high polydispersity.
Abstract:
Coatings for medical devices, the coatings including albumin, the methods of forming the coatings, and the coated medical devices are disclosed. In preferred embodiments the medical device is a bioabsorbable stent. The albumin coating layer improves the thromboresistance of the device.
