Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure include a method for treating tissue. The method may include delivering a medical device through a channel of an endoscopic device, wherein the medical device may include an elongate member, a cap coupled to a distal end of the elongate member and having a cavity, and an electrically-conductive tool extending into the cavity of the cap. The method may also include extending a portion of the medical device out of the channel of the endoscopic device and to the tissue, drawing a portion of the tissue into the cavity of the cap, electrically activating the tool to pierce the portion of the tissue, and cutting the tissue by moving the medical device along a plane of the tissue.
Abstract:
A tissue resection hood and related method of use for resecting the tissue are described. The tissue resection hood may include a distal end portion having an opening, a proximal end portion, and a cavity defined between the proximal and distal end portions, wherein the proximal end portion defines an opening configured to couple to an end of a sheath. The tissue resection hood may further include a cutting member configured to traverse the opening in the distal end portion and a mechanism configured to control a dimension of the cavity.
Abstract:
A multi-functional medical device including a sheath having a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending between the proximal end and the distal end. The medical device further includes an end-effector slidably disposed within the lumen. A portion of the end-effector may be configured to transition between a collapsed state while in the lumen and an expanded state while out of the lumen. Further, the end-effector may include a tool configured to dissect tissue, and a retracting member having a plurality of legs disposed about the tool.
Abstract:
A medical device including a distal body coupled to a distal end of a vacuum tube. The distal body may be in fluid communication with a lumen of the vacuum tube. The distal body may include a core having a plurality of openings and one or more layers surrounding the core.
Abstract:
A device includes a flexible sheath, a member, an expansion device, and a therapeutic patch. The sheath has a length selected to extend from a distal end which, when the device is in operative configuration, is adjacent to the target site, to a proximal end. The member extends through the sheath from a proximal end to a distal end. The expansion device is coupled to and extends distally from a distal end of the member. The patch is wrapped around the expansion device and forced radially outward into contact with and adhere to a first target portion of tissue when the expansion device is moved to deployed configuration. The expansion device is movable, after the patch has been adhered to the portion as desired, from deployed configuration to insertion configuration to separate the patch from the expansion device leaving the patch in a desired position adhered to the portion.
Abstract:
A device for treating a tissue opening includes a proximal portion including an elongated flexible member, a capsule releasably coupled to a distal end of the flexible member and including a lumen extending therethrough and a clip including a pair of arms movably housed within the capsule. A suture extending along a first one of the pair of arms and including a loop at a distal end thereof extending across an opening extending through the first one of the pair of arms. A suture grabbing element extending laterally from a second one of the pair of arms and including a hook so that, when the pair of arms are moved toward a closed configuration, the hook extends through the opening to grab the loop and draw the distal end of the suture from the first one of the pair of arms toward the second one of the pair of arms.
Abstract:
According to one aspect, a fastening device may include a coupling body having (1) a portion configured to couple to a distal end of a medical device, (2) a cartridge holder, and (3) an anvil pivotably coupled to the cartridge holder. The cartridge holder and the anvil may extend distally from the portion and may be configured to extend distally of a distalmost face of the medical device when the portion is coupled to the distal end of the medical device. A flexible member may be configured to extend through a channel of the medical device. A fastener cartridge may be coupled to a distal end of the flexible member, including at least one fastener, and may be configured for releasable coupling to the cartridge holder.
Abstract:
A medical device including an elongate member having a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending therebetween. The medical device may further include an end-effector disposed at the distal end of the elongate member. The end-effector may include a plurality of arms pivotally connected to one another, wherein each arm includes a tissue-contacting surface, a first portion of the tissue-contacting surface including a plurality of ridges configured to grasp tissue. Further, the tissue-contacting surface may include a channel oriented substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the medical device.
Abstract:
A method for coupling a first medical device component to a second medical device component comprising altering the first medical device component from a natural state to an altered state, by reducing a cross-sectional dimension of the first medical device, fitting a first portion of the first medical device component in the altered state into a first opening of the second medical device component, wherein the first medical device component includes second portions not within the first opening of the second medical device component, and allowing the second portions of the first medical device component to revert back to the natural state.
