Abstract:
The present invention relates to the finding that C-terminal loop and propeller loop and regions thereof of the DPP-IV family of prolyl dipeptidases play an important role in dimer formation. The present invention further provides purified polypeptides comprising an amino acid sequence that mimics conserved amino acids in at least one of a C-terminal loop and a propeller loop of the dimer interface of the DPP-IV family of prolyl dipeptidases sufficient to prevent dimerization of a member of that family. Such polypeptides and other agents serve to disrupt the activity of the DPP-IV family of prolyl dipeptidases.
Abstract:
A fluidized-bed catalyst for producing acrylonitrile by the ammoxidation of propylene, which comprises a silica carrier and a composite having the following formula: AaCcDdNafFegBihMiMo12Ox wherein A selected from the group consisting of potassium, rubidium, cesium, samarium, thallium and mixtures thereof; C is selected from the group consisting of phosphorus, arsenic, boron, antimony, chromium and mixtures thereof; D is selected from nickel, cobalt or mixtures thereof; M is selected from tungsten, vanadium or mixtures thereof. The catalyst of the present invention particularly suits the use under higher pressure and higher duties, and still maintains very high single-pass yield of acrylonitrile and a high ammonia conversion. This catalyst particularly suits the requirement for existing acrylonitrile plants to raise capacity. For new plants it can also reduce the investment on the catalyst and the pollution.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a new fluidized-bed catalyst used in a process of propylene ammoxidation to acrylonitrile. The catalyst comprises a silica as carrier and a composition represented by the following general formulas: AaBbCcGedNaeFefBigMohOx Wherein A represents at least one element selected from a group consisting Li,K,Rb,Cs,Sm, In or Tl; B represents at least one element selected from a group consisting of P, Sb, Cr, W. Pr, Ce, As, B, Te, Ga, Al, Nb, Th, La or V; C represents one element selected from a group consisting of Ni, Co, Sr, Mn, Mg, Ca, Zn, Cd or Cu and the mixture thereof; a is a number of from 0.01 to 1.5; b is a number of from 0.01 to 3.0; c is a number of from 0.1 to 12.0; preferably from 2 to 10; d is a number of from 0.01 to 2.0; preferably from 0.01 to 1.0; e is a number of from 0.01 to 0.7; preferably from 0.05 to 0.5; f is a number of from 0.1 to 8; preferably from 1.0 to 3.0; g is a number of from 0.01 to 6; preferably from 0.1 to 2.0; h is a number of from 12 to 14.5; X denotes the number of oxygen atoms which satisfies the valence requirement of the other elements in the catalyst; The content of silica used as carrier is, 30-70 wt %. The catalyst of the invention can be used in the reaction for propylene ammoxidation to acrylonitrile operated at a higher reaction pressure and higher load condition, and can still sustain a high once-through yield of acrylonitrile.
Abstract:
A composition of matter for use in tribological applications, such as in mechanical seals, bearings and other sliding or rubbing components, which provides good durability and wear characteristics. The material is used in the "softer" one of two relatively sliding members which are in, or may come into, contact with each other during the relative rotation of one of the member s relative to the other. The material is a carbon or carbonaceous formed material, such as is normally used in the manufacture of a primary seal ring in a mechanical seal, and comprises an additive compound which contains at least one compound from a group consisting of neodymium fluoride, praseodymium fluoride, gadolinium fluoride and lanthanum fluoride.
Abstract:
A system and methods are provided for removal of undesired portions of a fruit or vegetable, such as removal of calyxes from strawberries before they are flash frozen. An automated process for high-throughput fruit or vegetable calyx removal includes a loading system, an identification system, and a removal system. The loading system is configured to transport the fruit or vegetable through the automated process. The loading system may also orient the fruits or vegetables along an axis of the fruit and or align the fruit or vegetables in a desired pattern, orientation, and/or arrangement. The identification system is configured to locate the calyx and determines calyx position data and an optimal cutting path for individual fruit. The removal system uses data received from the identification system to separate the calyx from the fruit or vegetable.
Abstract:
The invention proposes a device (1) and a corresponding method, wherein the device (1) comprises: a first element (10) to be attached to a breast of a breastfeeding mother; and a first marker (11) located on the outer surface (100) of the first element (10), wherein the first marker (11) is used for indicating a position of a mother's breast that the baby's lip is expected to contact in order to correctly hold the mother's breast. With the device (1) attached to the mother's breast, the first marker (11) indicates a position that the baby's lip is expected to contact, and the breastfeeding mother can have a clear view of whether the baby correctly holds the mother's breast according to the distance between the first marker (11) and the baby's lip.
