In a first aspect, a programmable transfer device is provided for transferring conductive pieces to electrode pads of a target substrate. The programmable transfer device includes (1) a transfer substrate; and (2) a plurality of individually addressable electrodes formed on the transfer substrate. Each electrode is adapted to selectively attract and hold a conductive piece during transfer of the conductive piece to an electrode pad of a target substrate. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses genetically modified plants, such as potato plants. The plants are more resistant to a pathogen of interest following transformation of plant cells with a chimeric gene comprising a chitinase gene and β-1,3-glucanase gene. The invention also provides a method of enhancing the resistance of plants to pathogens by introducing a Brassica chitinase gene encoding two or more chitin-binding domains and β-1,3-glucanase gene and expressing the chitinase gene and β-1,3-glucanase gene.
Abstract:
In accordance with certain described implementation(s), a coordinating device performs bandwidth allocation procedures based on information from previously-unfulfilled bandwidth allocation requests and responsive to current bandwidth allocation requests. The current bandwidth allocation requests stipulate current requested bandwidth amounts for multiple streams, and the current bandwidth allocation requests may be received from multiple entities having the multiple streams. The information from previously-unfulfilled bandwidth allocation requests is taken into account when allocating available bandwidth between/among the multiple streams of the multiple entities for the current requested bandwidth amounts.
Abstract:
An efficient and reliable technique is disclosed for detecting faults which occur in FIFO's, including control faults which are specific to FIFO's, as well as faults common to conventional memories, such as interport faults and faults that occur in single port memories. The technique utilizes a sequence of read, write and control operations, thereby avoiding the need to directly observe internal values within the FIFO, such as the full and empty flag values and the shift register values.
Abstract:
An optical fiber connector (3) includes an insert body (31), an elastic door (33), a housing (35), an optical element (37) and a spacer (39). The elastic door includes a shutter (331) and a fixed portion (335). The elastic door is mounted between the insert body and the housing. The optical element for emitting or receiving optical signals is held by mounting the spacer to the housing. The shutter can bend inwardly in a room (351) defined by the housing after a fiber plug (4) is inserted into the room.
Abstract:
An acid-dyeable polyester composition comprising (a) polyester and (b) secondary amine or secondary amine salt in an amount effective to promote acid-dyeability. The acid-dyeable polyester composition may be prepared by melt blending: the polyester; and polymeric additive prepared from (i) triamine containing secondary amine or secondary amine salt unit(s) and (ii) one or more other monomer and/or polymer units. One polymeric additive comprises polyamide selected from the group consisting of poly-imino-bisalkylene-terephthalamide, -isophthalamide and -1,6-naphthalamide, and salts thereof. Also, the polymeric additive, the blends, shaped articles (e.g., fibers and films), processes of dyeing, and processes for preparing an acid dyeable polyester composition.
Abstract:
A CAM testing procedure detects storage logic faults, comparison logic faults, and faults caused by interactions between the storage and comparison logic for both single port and dual port CAM's. To uncover faults in the storage logic, a series of read and write operations are performed, either using a standard test sequence, such as the March C algorithm, or any other desired test sequence. The CAM test, however, intermixes comparison operations with the read and write operations to uncover faults in the comparison logic. For dual port memories, the test sequence comprises executing comparison operations concurrently with the read and/or write operations, thus revealing faults between the storage and comparison logic. For single port memories, the test sequence comprises performing a comparison operation following the read/write operations at each address, immediately verifying the comparison logic at each address.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of forming a ruthenium seed layer on a substrate comprising the steps of introducing a ruthenium-containing compound into a CVD apparatus; introducing oxygen into the CVD apparatus; maintaining an oxygen rich environment in the process chamber for the initial formation of a ruthenium oxide seed layer; vaporizing the ruthenium-containing compound; depositing the ruthenium oxide seed layer onto the substrate by chemical vapor deposition; and annealing the deposited ruthenium oxide seed layer in a gas ambient forming a ruthenium seed layer. Also provided is a method of depositing a ruthenium thin metal film using a metalorganic precursor onto a CVD ruthenium seed layer by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition.
