Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a plurality of pixel regions divided into a plurality of areas. The plurality of areas include a plurality of first areas and a plurality of second areas. In each of the pixel regions in each of the first areas, one of (i) the pixel electrode and (ii) the common electrode is formed closer to the liquid crystal layer than the other of (i) the pixel electrode and (ii) the common electrode. In each of the pixel regions in each of the second areas, the other of (i) the pixel electrode and (ii) the common electrode is formed closer to the liquid crystal layer than the one of (i) the pixel electrode and (ii) the common electrode. The common electrode in each of the first areas is formed in a same layer as the pixel electrode in each of the second areas.

Abstract: As source and drain wiring, a base layer and a cap layer are each formed of a MoNiNb alloy film, and a low-resistance layer is formed of Cu. The resultant laminated metal film is patterned through one-time wet etching to form a drain electrode and a source electrode. Cu serving as a main wiring layer does not corrode because of being covered with a MoNiNb alloy having good corrosion resistance. Further, even when a protective insulating film including an oxide is formed by plasma CVD in an oxidizing atmosphere, Cu is not oxidized. With the wet etching, the sidewall taper angle of the laminated metal film can be controlled to 20 degrees or more and less than 70 degrees.

Abstract: A gate signal line driving circuit which suppresses noises in a gate signal and a display device which uses the gate signal line driving circuit are provided. A first basic circuit provided to a gate signal line driving circuit includes a HIGH voltage applying switching element which applies a HIGH voltage to gate signal lines in response to a signal HIGH period, and a LOW voltage applying switching circuit which applies a LOW voltage to the gate signal lines in response to a signal LOW period. In response to a signal HIGH period, a switch of the LOW voltage applying switching circuit of the first basic circuit is turned off based on a signal applied to a switch of the HIGH voltage applying switching element of a second basic circuit which assumes a signal HIGH period earlier than the first basic circuit.

Abstract: The present invention is intended to control the color temperature of white exhibited by a liquid crystal display device. White is produced when light waves emitted through pixels associated with three colors of red, green, and blue have maximum intensities. The amounts of light emitted through the respective pixels are controlled by differentiating the shapes of the pixel electrodes disposed at the respective pixels from one another. Thus, the color temperature of white is controlled. Otherwise, the shapes of interceptive films disposed at the respective pixels are differentiated from one another in order to control light waves emitted through the respective pixels. Thus, the color temperature of white is controlled. The interceptive film may be shaped like the pixel electrode. Otherwise, the interceptive film may be realized with an interceptive pattern other than that of the pixel electrode or one of openings bored in a black matrix.

Abstract: A display driving circuit having a shift register is formed on the display panel. The shift register includes a first stage having first and second transistors and a second stage having a third and fourth transistor. A voltage of a control electrode of the first transistor is boosted by a voltage of a first pulse line changing from low to high. In an On state, the second transistor connects the control electrode of the first transistor and a constant voltage line. A voltage of a control electrode of the third transistor is boosted by a voltage of a second pulse line changing from low to high. In an On state, the fourth transistor connects the control electrode of the third transistor and a constant voltage line. The fourth transistor is switched on by a signal from the first stage.
