A method and a system for assigning a unique logical address to a mobile station in a cloud cell are provided. The method includes selecting, by the master base station, a unique logical address from an associated set of addresses, wherein the set of addresses is a subset of a common address space, and assigning the unique logical address to the mobile station so that the mobile station and each of the plurality of base stations communicate in the cloud cell using the assigned unique logical address.

A method for avoiding a collision between a device to device (D2D) transmission and a random access transmission by a user equipment (UE) in a communication system supporting a D2D scheme is provided. The method includes detecting resource configuration information related to a random access transmission and resource configuration information related to a D2D transmission, determining a result on whether a resource in which a D2D resource which corresponds to the resource configuration information related to the D2D transmission is included includes a random access resource which corresponds to the resource configuration information related to the random access transmission, and avoiding using the resource or the random access resource for the D2D transmission based on the determined result.

A method and an apparatus for monitoring device-to-device (D2D) transmission in a connected state in a communication system supportive of a D2D scheme are provided. The method includes monitoring, by a D2D user equipment (UE), a D2D transmission during a D2D resource cycle and a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle in a radio resource control (RRC) state, transmitting an indication including a capability of the UE to a base station, and reestablishing an RRC connection from the base station, wherein the D2D resource cycle and the DRX cycle are configured not to overlap each other based on the indication.

The present disclosure relates to a 5G or pre-5G communication system to be provided in order to support a higher data transmission rate following 4G communication systems such as LTE. Disclosed are a method and device for improving device searching in a D2D communication system supporting direct communication between devices. The method comprises the steps of: generating a search signal including search information; selecting a transmission resource to transmit the search signal; transmitting the search signal through the selected transmission resource; and when a request signal requesting additional information on the search from a counterpart device that has received the search signal is received, transmitting a confirmation signal including the requested additional information to the counterpart device. The present disclosure relates to a communication technique and system which combine a 5G communication system, for supporting a higher data transmission rate following 4G systems, with IoT technology.

A method for providing a cooperative communication service by a macro Base Station (BS) in a mobile communication system is provided. The method includes generating at least one small cell BS group by grouping small cell BSs if there are small cell BSs of which a number is equal to or larger than a threshold small cell BS number within a service coverage of the macro BS, establishing a cooperative interface with a representative small cell BS among small cell BSs included in the at least one small cell BS group, and providing a cooperative communication service with the at least one small cell BS group using the cooperative interface.

A method and apparatus for performing a state transition for Device to Device (D2D) communication are provided. The method includes determining whether D2D initiation is required, while a terminal is operating in a first or a second state defined by EPS (Enhanced Packet System) Mobility Management (EMM)-Deregistered and EPS Connection Management (ECM)-IDLE at a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) layer and Radio Resource Control (RRC)-IDLE. If the D2D initiation is required, the method includes transitioning to a third state defined by EMM-Registered and ECM/RRC-Connected and performing the D2D initiation through a mobile communication network. If a deactivation condition is satisfied or a D2D state update is completed in the third state, the method includes transitioning to a fourth state defined by EMM-Registered and ECM/RRC-IDLE, and if a state update or scheduling for D2D communication is required in the fourth state, the method includes transitioning to the third state.

A method and apparatus for performing initial entry for Device-to-Device (D2D) communication in a wireless communication system include transmitting an initial entry request including a service request for D2D communication to a Mobility Management Entity (MME) by a terminal, and if the service request for D2D communication is accepted, receiving information indicating that the initial entry request is accepted, including D2D communication information from the MME by the terminal.

The present disclosure provides a method and apparatus for communicating data packets in a cloud cell. In one embodiment, a network node from which data packets are received is identified by the BS. If the data packets are received from a data gateway, a network node to which the data packets to be sent is identified. If the data packets are to be sent to a slave BS, partial processing is performed on the data packets by the master BS. Furthermore, partially processed data packets are transmitted to the slave BS so that the slave BS performs complete processing on the partially processed data packets and transmits the completely processed data packets to the MS. If the data packets are to be sent to the MS, then complete processing of the data packets is performed by the BS and transmitted to the MS.

A method for grouping bearers for data transmission by a Base Station (BS) in a wireless communication network are provided. The method includes sending a bearer request to a data gateway, and receiving a bearer response from the data gateway with parameters associated with grouping of the bearers.
