Abstract:
A self-expanding tubular stent comprises a plurality of stent segments. Each stent segment is formed of an elongate ribbon having portions cut therefrom to form a wave-like undulating pattern, opposed edges of which are attached to one another so as to form a generally cylindrical configuration. A disclosed method effects formation of such an expandable tubular stent by first providing an elongate flat ribbon of biocompatible stent material and selectively removing portions of such material to form an undulating wave-like pattern along the length of the ribbon. The ribbon is then coiled into a generally cylindrical configuration and opposed ends of the ribbon are secured to one another to form a generally cylindrical and expandable spiral stent section. After forming a plurality of such stent sections, the stent sections are arranged in longitudinal succession and interconnected so as to form an elongated stent configuration.
Abstract:
An integrated circuit memory device (10) includes a large on-chip capacitor (12) that has a high voltage plate and a low voltage plate. The large on-chip capacitor (12) stores charge for a positive voltage supply (VPP) for the integrated circuit memory device (10). The high voltage plate of the large on-chip capacitor (12) is connected to a node (NODE 1) for distributing charge from the large on-chip capacitor. A load (16) is connected to the node (NODE 1) and consumes charge from the high voltage plate to power operations of the integrated circuit memory device (10). The load (16) includes a memory array comprising a plurality of memory cells. The low voltage plate of the large on-chip capacitor (12) is connected to a capacitive voltage reference which has high capacitance and has a voltage-level greater than ground potential and less than the positive voltage supply. In one embodiment, the large on-chip capacitor is a storage/filter capacitor (12) for a boosted high voltage supply (VPP), and the capacitive voltage reference is a memory cell reference voltage (VPLT) which is also connected to a reference plate of memory cell capacitors (28) of the memory cells (20) in the memory array.
Abstract:
Apparatus for counting compact discs stacked on a spindle with outer portions of adjacent discs normally separated by gaps formed by central bosses of the discs in which the stack is moved vertically through the space between transmitting optics which produce a pair of vertically spaced beams having a space therebetween equal to the distance between a pair of adjacent gaps of the stack and receiving optics including a detector which produces pulses in response to radiation from said beams which transverse the gaps. The time between a pair of successive pulses is measured and the second pulse of the pair is counted as two pulses when the measured time exceeds a predetermined time. The apparatus is arranged to operate with either of two types of spindles.
Abstract:
An oven vent heat diverter device is disclosed which is a heat diversion barrier placed under the control panel of an oven or other appliance and redirects the heat to the exhaust fan. The oven vent heat diverter device comprises a body component consisting of several hinged panels attached to one another. In use, the hinged panels are secured together in a square configuration and positioned over the cooking surface of the free-standing range vent area, and under a control panel of an over-the-range (OTR) microwave or other suitable oven appliance. Further, the device can be folded up substantially flat for easy and convenient storage.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process to make continuous strand polymer comprising the following steps: a) providing a monomer mixture comprising water, a monomer, a crosslinker and an initiator; b) transporting the monomer mixture of step a) into a confining means wherein the monomer mixture is confined in said confining means; c) initiating polymerization of the monomer mixture in the confining means to make a continuous strand polymer; and d) emitting the continuous strand polymer from the confining means wherein the continuous strand polymer has a defined cross-sectional profile comprising an initial cross sectional diameter of at least 0.1 mm The present invention is further directed to a process of making a continuous strand superabsorbent polymer.
Abstract:
A radiant gas heater includes one or more gas inlets 105, for receiving gas from a gas supply and one or more air inlets 110. The heater includes gas burners 120A-120E, in which the gas is burned using oxygen admitted through the air inlets 110. One or more heat emitting elements 125A-125E are included, which emit infrared radiation using energy generated by the gas burners. One or more ionization probes 130A are provided proximal to two or more of the heat emitting elements for detecting the presence or absence of a flame. A housing 115 accommodates the gas burners, the heat emitting elements and the ionization probes. One or more control units are provided which are in electrical communication with the ionization probes and the gas inlets, the control units operable to shut off the gas supply if the ionization probes detect the absence of a flame.
Abstract:
A composite biomaterial having a continuous metal sheet with arcuate members that define a first fenestration pattern, and a polymer layer over at least one surface of the continuous metal sheet. The arcuate members elastically stretch to allow the continuous metal sheet to bend in more than one axis without buckling or wrinkling.
Abstract:
A catheter is configured to access a renal artery. A lumen of the catheter's shaft is dimensioned to receive a flexible actuation member which extends between the shaft's proximal and distal ends. The actuation member is moveable within the lumen and subject to elastic deformation, friction, and/or whip along its length. A flexible support member is coupled to a distal end of the actuation member and extendible beyond a distal tip of the shaft. An RF ablation electrode at a distal end of the support member is configured to ablated perivascular renal nerve tissue. A position converter at the distal end of the shaft is configured to convert movement of the actuation member into one or both of controlled rotational and axial movement of the support member and electrode to one of a multiplicity of stable circumferential positions substantially free of elastic deformation, friction, and/or whip impacting actuation member movement.
