摘要： A structural laminate comprises at least one planar facing sheet with a rigid foam attached to one surface of the facing sheet. The rigid foam may be any polymeric material which is capable of being foamed. Distributed substantially evenly throughout the foam is a mat of long glass fibers arranged in layers substantially parallel to the facing sheet. The process for producing this structural laminate comprises the steps of contacting a thin, substantially incompressible yet expansible mat of long glass fibers with a foam-forming mixture, positioning a facing sheet on each face of the mat, and passing the facing sheets having the mat and the foam-forming mixture therebetween through means for metering the amount of foam-forming mixture and causing it to fully penetrate between the fibers of said glass mat.

摘要： The wrapped insulation of coils of large electric machines--motors or generators--is set by heat and pressure in a press that extends the length of both wrapped legs of the coil and supports the coil so that it is substantially free from stress. The coil may be supported with its wrapped legs level and horizontal, and the press can be adjustable for different coil sizes and configurations. The heat and pressure cycle is operable automatically to suit the requirements of the insulating material.

摘要： An oil or organic solvent-absorbent is prepared by extruding a molten thermoplastic resinous polymer blend of polystyrene and polyethylene containing a foaming agent through a die having a slit aperture of 0.1 - 1.0 mm width, quenching the extrudate at the die exit to a temperature below the glass transition point of the resinous blend, drafting the extrudate at a draft ratio from the maximum draft ratio possible under the operating conditions to one-third the maximum draft ratio, laminating at least two sheets of the resulting unopened, sheet-like reticulated structure having numerous non-continuous cracks along one direction so that the direction of the cracks of each such sheet is the same, pulling the laminate in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the cracks to separate the constituent fibers from each other, and crimping the opened, sheet-like laminate either alone or together with at least one other sheet-like material; a process for removing oil or organic solvents with the absorbent product.

摘要： A process for constructing a thin-film circuit device, such as a resistor, utilizing a laminated structure comprising a substrate covered by a thin-film layer of material having electrical characteristics corresponding to the circuit device, which is covered by an intermediate layer constructed of conductive material which in turn is covered by a conductive layer. The conductive layer is selectively etched to form a cavity above the intermediate layer, the size of the cavity being such as to define the dimension between opposite intended contacts for the device. Subsequently, the conductive, intermediate and thin-film layers are selectively etched to form the bounds of the circuit device, and the exposed portion of the intermediate layer between the opposite contacts is then removed.
