Abstract:
Device for receiving and processing road information messages transmitted in digital form, each message including at least a first section for indicating the zone of the road network to which the message refers, which device includes for the control of the data processing a data processing unit which is connected to a bus for the transfer of data, to which bus are also connected a reception memory for temporarily storing the received messages, a selection unit enabling the selection from among the stored messages of those concerning a zone to be designated and a presentation unit for presenting the selected messages. The device also includes a message analysis unit which includes a zones table memory, which analysis unit is provided for recognizing the zone in question each time a message is received on the basis of the said first section of the received message and for storing in the zones table, by means of at least one indicator for each message, the received messages according to the zone to which they belong, which selection unit is provided for accessing the zones table and for carrying out the said selection by fetching messages for the designated zone in the zones table.
Abstract:
A broadcast response system provides, e.g., a radio broadcast listener with the ability to obtain media content such as music or speech while listening to the radio. The user can respond to items in the radio broadcast such as advertisements, fund raising drives, or interactive listener polls during the broadcast. Data such as song title and artist, author or publisher and the IP address for the location where the digital version of the content is stored, can be transmitted using, e.g., the RBDS/RDS data stream. A reference number representing song title and artist, author or publisher and the IP address for the location where the digital version of the content is stored can also be employed for ease of implementation. This reference number can reside in a lookup table to be accessed by broadcast response server.
Abstract:
Embodiments are disclosed of methods and systems for providing information in a single FM tuner system. An example method according to the disclosure provides station information in a single FM tuner system, and comprises receiving radio data system (RDS) data/radio broadcast data system (RBDS) data by the single FM tuner system; extracting frequency information regarding receivable stations from the received RDS/RBDS data and displaying a list of the receivable frequencies; extracting additional information regarding the receivable stations from the received RDS/RBDS data, and displaying the extracted additional information regarding the receivable stations in correspondence with the respective receivable frequencies in the list. Further a single FM tuner system is provided for carrying out the method.
Abstract:
Information about desired songs is collected on a portable memory device in communication with a radio tuner. The radio tuner may receive signals from a terrestrial or satellite digital radio transmission, or from an analog radio transmission. These transmissions may include text data about the current song being played. Upon activation by a user, song data is stored on the memory device. The memory device is then connected to a computer system, which uses software to extract the song data and uniquely identify the song. The identified songs are stored on the computer system, and can be used to allow the user easy access to the identified song through prior art techniques. If no textual data is stored about a song, the song is identified by identifying the radio station that played the song and the time at which the user activated the mechanism.
Abstract:
A method for creating a station list for display in a radio system includes creating a station profile of at least one radio station, the station profile comprising at least one of geographical information, alternative frequencies, a Program Identification Code and Radio Data System data of the respective radio station, storing the at least one station profile and creating the station list based on a station profile of a currently received radio station and the at least one stored station profile.
Abstract:
A method of performing alternate frequency switching in a radio includes tuning the radio to a primary frequency. A candidate alternate frequency is identified. It is determined whether the candidate alternate frequency is a third order inter-modulation artifact. Tuning is switched from the primary frequency to the candidate alternate frequency only if it is determined in the determining step that the candidate alternate frequency is not a third order inter-modulation artifact.
Abstract:
A system and method for delivering geographically restricted content, including but not limited to over-air broadcast programming, to a recipient over a computer network, namely the Internet. The content is only delivered over the computer network if the recipient's computer or network device requesting the content over the network is verified to be located in the geographically restricted area. A conventional tuner is employed by the recipient's computer to receive one or more over-air signals having a broadcast range deemed to be synonymous with the geographically restricted area for the requested content. If the tuner is able to receive such over-air signal(s), the requested content is delivered over the network to the recipient's computer. This is because the recipient is known to be physically located in the geographically restricted area by the ability of the tuner to receive the over-air signal(s).
Abstract:
A method for setting different tuner and human machine interface, HMI, settings of a radio tuner with RDS functionality, comprising evaluating the at least one RDS signal of a broadcast received by the radio tuner; determining current country and/or current region in accordance with the at least one RDS signal; adjusting tuner settings of the radio tuner in accordance with the determined current country and/or current region; and updating the HMI settings of the radio tuner in accordance with the current country and/or current region.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for obtaining content distributed to a wireless communications device is provided. The method may comprise receiving, by a wireless communications device (WCD), a first content item distributed by a first service provider, obtaining a bookmark, wherein the bookmark couples at least one WCD operation identifying item to the first content item, transmitting, from the WCD, to a second service provider, a content item request coupled to the bookmark, and receiving, from the second service provider, a second content item associated with the first content item through the transmitted content item request and the bookmark.
Abstract:
Radio broadcasting equipment along with a system design that provides specified booster transmitter locations, control and adjustment of transmitter power levels, analysis and provisioning of optimized antenna heights and antenna azimuths is provided that enables filling a dead zone in a radio broadcast area with a radio signal synchronized with the main transmitter(s) signal, wherein the radio broadcasting equipment includes a plurality of booster transmitters transmitting at a cumulative power level much higher than that of the main transmitter in the dead zone to which the plurality of booster transmitters are dedicated.
