    摘要: A process for fabricating magnetic transducing heads includes successive grinding, lapping and finishing steps. The ferrite cores of the transducing heads are rough cut with a silicone carbide grinding wheel, to an excess over desired final throat height equal to approximately one-half the nominal diameter of the grinding wheel grit. The core and supporting pads then are placed on a soft tin or lead rotating lapping plate for removing substantially all of the excess. Finally, the pads and cores are hand-finished on a stationary plate or soft tin, copper or lead. A diamond slurry used during lapping and final finishing, has a controlled alkaline pH in order to simultaneously chemically etch and polish the cores.

    摘要: Apparatus is shown for mixing and dispensing an epoxy adhesive. An epoxy resin and its associated curing agent are simultaneously loaded from separate cartridges into a length of flexible PVC tubing, part of which is contained between a rotor and a stator. Bearings, mounted rotatably about the rotor, engage and travel along the tubing as the rotor is revolved, each bearing compressing the tubing at its point of engagement. The tubing, repeatedly compressed and released by each bearing in succession, kneads the epoxy resin and curing agent into a homogeneous mixture. From the tubing, the epoxy mixture is deposited on a moving carrier tape and forms a continuous bead. Downstream, a control tape is spaced apart from the carrier tape and moves in the opposite direction. As the bead encounters the control tape, the control tape removes part of the bead material from the carrier tape and plastically forms the remaining mixture into a film of a uniform thickness substantially less than the bead diameter. Further downstream, an automatic pick-up device contacts the film over a controlled area and thus picks up a controlled amount of the epoxy mixture.

    摘要: Provided is a circuit for removing an unwanted temporal portion of an incoming signal and for differentiating that signal with respect to a reference voltage level. It includes an input for receiving the incoming signal current through an input capacitor, a differential amplifier for converting input charging current into a voltage with respect to a reference voltage, and a charging capacitor for holding a voltage level representative of the charging current supplied to the differential amplifier during times when the unwanted input signal portion is to be removed from the circuit's output. A current sink and source provides a reset period voltage charge to the input capacitor during times when the unwanted portion is to be removed from the outgoing signal. A switch responds to a reset signal immediately preceding or on the occurrence of the unwanted signal portion. The charging capacitor is charged during the gradually sloping portion of the incoming signal so as to hold a voltage level representative of the incoming charging current when the rapid slope transition (unwanted signal portion) occurs. During such time the reset signal causes the switch to allow the charging capacitor to provide its stored voltage level via the current sink and source to the differential amplifier and input capacitor.

    摘要: An optical recording system has a system optical apparatus carried by a fine tracking system which moves the optical apparatus for small track seeking movements and for track following. The fine tracking system is carried by a linear actuator coarse tracking system which makes large track seeking movements so that the entire area of the optical recording media is available to the system. Both the coarse tracking system and the fine tracking system are operated by servo control loops. The fine tracking system responds to tracking status signals with respect to track following and track seeking signals in response to track addressing information. The coarse tracking system responds to position sensor signals derived from a position sensor which is associated with the fine tracking system and provides signals related to the relative position of the fine tracking system to the coarse tracking system. The coarse tracking system follows the movements of the fine tracking system using signals from the position sensing system as the only necessary control for the coarse tracking system.

One of the preferred embodiments of the invention comprises three bistable flip-flops interconnected with OR gates to respond to a data input pulse stream and a clock pulse stream to provide, in response to each data pulse, a reference pulse having a width equal to the bit cell period and a variable pulse having a duration which is greater or less than the reference pulse duration in accordance with the direction and amount of time displacement of the input pulse from the center of the bit cell in which the input pulse occurs.
