摘要: The present invention relates to a novel protein belonging to an ADAM family, a partial peptide thereof or a salt thereof, a DNA encoding the protein, a recombinant vector comprising the DNA, a transformant, a method for producing the protein, a medicine comprising the protein or the DNA, an antibody against the protein, a method/kit for screening for a compound or a salt thereof which promotes or inhibits the protease activity or the extracellular metric degrading enzyme activity (preferably, the peptidoglycan degrading enzyme activity) of the protein, a compound obtained by the screening, and a medicine comprising the compound. The present protein and a DNA encoding it can be used, for example, as an agent for treating or preventing various diseases such as disc herniation, ischialgia, glomerular nephritis, diabetic nephropathy, hepatic fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis or osteopetrosis. In addition, the present antibody can be used for quantitating the present protein in a test solution. Further, the present protein is useful as a reagent for screening for a compound which promotes or inhibits the protease activity of the present protein.

摘要: Provided is an electrostatic protective device which is highly effective in protecting relatively vulnerable devices such as IC's and LSI's from electrostatic damages, and a method for fabricating an electrostatic protective device which can simplify the structure as compared with the conventional devices sealed in a glass container, and can reduce the size and cost of the device. The chip type electrostatic protective device comprises an inner insulating layer made of organic resin material and provided with a plurality of holes for defining air gaps, a pair of outer insulating layers placed on both sides of the inner insulating layer, and circuit segments defining a discharge gap in each of the air gaps. Holes for interconnection are formed in the laminated assembly, and the interior of each of the holes is turned electroconductive. The assembly is then cut apart into individual chip type electrostatic protective devices by cutting through each of the holes for interconnection so as to define terminals for interconnection.

摘要: The present invention provides a novel system for monitoring a predetermined operating condition of a heating apparatus, such as a cumulative total time period of combustion and a combustion frequency, and informing a user of a timing of maintenance. In a hot water heater (1) according to the invention, a controller (208) outputs a maintenance requirement signal to a display (210) and a maintenance alarm to inform the user of a timing of maintenance when a combustion frequency nx becomes equal to or greater than a first reference value nr1 or when a cumulative total time period of combustion tx becomes equal to or greater than a second reference value tr1. This allows the user to perform maintenance without delay and prevents troubles or abnormalities from being developed in the hot water heater (1).
