    Abstract: A device for controlling a gearbox includes a transmission member that transmits movement of a control lever to a control cable. A locking member, having a first and second portions for locking the lever in respective park and neutral positions, is mounted in a device casing. An actuator causes the locking member to rotate when the lever must be unlocked from park position and when the lever must be locked in neutral position. The device includes an anti-locking pawl mounted on the transmission member, having an operative position preventing the second portion from being received in a transmission member seat for locking the lever in the neutral position. If the lever is freed from park position and moved through the neutral position while the actuator is active, the pawl is pushed by the locking member into its operative position, thereby preventing unwanted locking of the lever in the neutral position.

    Abstract: An expansion tank for a cooling system of a motor vehicle has an inlet mouth and is provided with a shell in plastic material having a wall which defines a cavity for containing a coolant liquid; the shell has, in addition, a projecting collar, at the inlet mouth, and a first inner tubular wall, which protrudes downwards into the cavity and defines a passage with a lower outlet opening, to make the coolant liquid flow into the cavity; the shell has, in addition, a second tubular wall, projecting upwards into the cavity and defining a compartment which is vertically aligned with the passage and has an upper overflow opening vertically arranged at a height that is equal to or greater than that of the outlet opening.

    Abstract: Motor vehicle comprising headlights and an air conditioning system fluidically connected to the headlights for supplying an air flow thereto, and comprising an electric fan to generate the air flow, an electric heater to heat the air flow generated by the electric fan, a sensory system to measure air temperature and moisture inside the headlights, an electric heater and an electric fan arranged inside each headlight, and an electronic control unit connected to the sensory system to receive the measured quantities, to the electric fan and the electric heater of the air conditioning system, and the electric heaters and the electric fans in the headlights to control operation thereof. The electronic control unit is further designed to carry out one or more of the following headlight defogging/defrosting operations based on air temperature and moisture inside the headlights: a) operating in a timed manner, with internal combustion engine off, the electric fans in the headlights; b) operating in a timed manner, with internal combustion engine off, the electric heater of the air conditioning system and, simultaneously, the electric fan of the air conditioning system or of the electric fans in the headlights; and c) operating in a timed manner the electric heaters in the headlights.

    Abstract: A vehicle suspension unit includes a frame module and two wheel supports each connected to the frame module by upper and lower oscillating arms, each arm having a first end portion swivelly connected to the respective wheel support by a first swivel joint and a second end portion swivelly connected to the frame module by a second swivel joint. A suspension spring arrangement includes a single leaf spring, constituting a separate element with respect to the upper and lower arms and arranged transversely relative to a vehicle longitudinal direction, in a symmetrical position relative to a vehicle vertical median plane. The leaf spring has a central portion connected to the frame module and end portions connected to the upper arms. In one version, the central portion is connected to the frame module by a device for adjustment of a position in height of said central portion relative to the frame module.

    Abstract: A canister for absorption of fuel vapours from a fuel tank, includes a hollow body defining an internal chamber containing absorbent material, a first opening communicating with a tank vent conduit, a second opening vented towards the atmosphere, and a third opening communicating with a conduit connected to an engine intake manifold. The canister body has outer and inner side walls parallel to and spaced apart from each other, and defining therebetween a thermally insulating interspace extending continuously for the whole circumferential extension of the outer side wall, on all sides of the canister body, whereby said thermally insulating interspace surrounds the internal chamber and promotes saving of heat generated inside the internal chamber in the absorption operating mode, during an engine inoperative stage, so as to improve canister scavenging efficiency during a subsequent stage wherein the scavenging operating mode is activated, when the engine is operative.

    Abstract: An automotive active brake noise damping system to actively damp braking noise perceivable in the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle comprising a braking system comprising a plurality of braking assemblies associated with wheels of the motor vehicle. The automotive active brake noise damping system comprises a sensory system to sense quantities that allow braking noise perceived in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle and generated by the braking assemblies during braking to be estimated, an audio system to diffuse sounds in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle, and an electronic control unit connected to the sensory system and the audio system, and programmed to control the audio system based on the quantities sensed by the sensor system to actively damp the braking noise perceived in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle. The sensory system comprises vibration sensors, conveniently in the form of piezoelectric accelerators, which are applied to the braking assemblies to sense the amplitude of the vibrations generated by the braking assemblies during braking, and the electronic control unit is programmed to store a mathematical model, which correlates vibrations generated by the braking assemblies during braking with corresponding braking noise perceived in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle and produced by the braking assemblies during braking, estimate the braking noise perceived in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle and generated by the braking assemblies of the braking system during braking as a function of the vibrations generated by the braking assemblies during braking and sensed by the vibration sensors applied to the braking assemblies and of the stored mathematical model, compute an interfering sound to be diffused in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle to damp the braking noise perceived in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle and generated by the braking assemblies during braking, and control the audio system to cause it to diffuse the computed interfering sound.

    Abstract: A motor-vehicle floor panel structure comprises a front body sub-unit, a central floor sub-unit, and a rear body sub-unit. The central floor sub-unit comprises a front floor structure including a central longitudinal tunnel, a pair of lateral longitudinal beams, connected to the front floor structure and to the front body sub-unit and two intermediate longitudinal beams which connect the central floor sub-unit to the front body sub-unit and which extend at intermediate areas between the lateral longitudinal beams and the central tunnel. The intermediate longitudinal beams are connected to the upper surface of the front floor structure and have portions which extend in a cantilever fashion from the front edge of the front floor structure and which are connected to said front body sub-unit. Due to this feature the floor structure has a lower surface which is substantially close to a regular continuous surface, so as to reduce turbulences in the air flowing under the floor panel structure during travel of the motor-vehicle, with a resulting positive impact on fuel consumption.
