Abstract:
Embodiments disclosed herein include insulation used to insulate elongated members, such a pipe or duct, as examples. The insulation can address a number of features, including but not limited to expansion and compression of insulation material, expansion and compression of the elongated member insulated, and the ability to adapt the insulation for elongated member of different sizes and lengths. In one embodiment, the insulation is comprised of at least one plank comprised of a flexible polymeric foam configured to be wrapped around an elongated member. In order for the insulation to self-adjust to compensate for thermal expansion and contraction of the foam material, the plank is comprised of a plurality of flexible polymeric foam profiles. At least one flexible polymeric foam spacer may also be provided that self-adjusts to compensate for thermal expansion and contraction of the elongated member to prevent or reduce gaps in insulation.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are disclosed for power management. A monitor module monitors a connection between a base and a detachable device from the base and from the detachable device. The detachable device provides a display for the base if the detachable device and base are connected. A detection module detects a connection event selected from the group consisting of a detachable device connection to the base and a detachable device disconnection from the base.

A device and method include detecting signal strength received at a mobile cellular communication device. A dropped call is detected between the device and another device as a function of detected signal strength. The dropped call is reconnected when detected signal strength reaches a selected first threshold.

A chat session participant may store a profile for informing other chat session participants of preferences regarding the capture of chat session text. A chat session user may disable another user's ability to capture text. A chat session user may request that another user not capture text.
Abstract:
A method for booting into computer memory a non-operating system (O.S.) program from a hard disk drive (HDD) prior to booting into memory an O.S. from the HDD. The method includes establishing a table of contents (TOC) on the HDD that contains entries for special O.S. programs. A pointer to the TOC is placed in non-volatile memory of the computer that is associated with the HDD, and when BIOS of the computer is prompted to load into memory one of the special O.S. programs, the pointer is accessed and used to locate the TOC, which in turn is accessed to load the special O.S. program.
Abstract:
A lock assembly portion may include a housing assembly, first and second latches, at least one latch drive, and at least one actuator. The housing assembly includes a first end portion and an opposite second end portion. The first latch is associated with the first end portion. The second latch is associated with the second end portion. The at least one actuator interfaces the latch drive to the first and second latches. Operation of the latch drive causes the first and second latches to move relative to one another between respective extended and retracted positions.
Abstract:
A USB connection arrangement, where more secure locking is afforded than has hitherto been achieved. With a first USB connecting portion and a second USB connecting portion, a locking arrangement is provided for physically securing the first USB connecting portion and the second USB connecting portion with respect to one another. The locking arrangement includes at least one receptor portion disposed on at least one of the first and second USB connecting portions, and at least one pin portion engageable with the at least one receptor portion for physically securing at least one of the first and second connecting portions with respect to the other of the first and second connecting portions.
Abstract:
A polymer composition including polymer particles containing a first polymer and a second polymer is disclosed. The first polymer has a crosslinked core and has a glass transition temperature in the range of −30° C. to 100° C. The second polymer containing select crosslinking groups and has a glass transition temperature in the range of −10° C. to less than 18° C. A process to prepare the polymer composition is provided. Also provided are a coated article containing a coating prepared from the polymer composition and a method of preparing the coated article. The polymer composition has good low temperature film formation and provides a film with an acceptable level of hardness.
Abstract:
This invention is based upon the unexpected discovery that alkylated diphenylamines can be used in conjunction with nickel based catalyst systems which contain (a) an organonickel compound, (b) an organoaluminum compound, and (c) a fluorine containing compound to produce cis-1,4-polybutadiene having reduced molecular weight and an increased level of branching. This results in the cis-1,4-polybutadiene exhibiting good processability without sacrificing cold flow characteristics. Additionally, the alkylated diphenylamine which remains in the rubber acts in a manner which provides it with antioxidant protection. In other words, the use of alkylated diphenylamines accomplishes the three major objectives that are realized by employing para-styrenated diphenylamines (reduced molecular weight, regulated polymer macrostructure through branching and antidegradant protection). However, the utilization of alkylated diphenylamines, unlike para-styrenated diphenylamines, offers the additional advantage of being soluble in aliphatic solvents. By virtue of this increased level of solubility in aliphatic solvents, such as hexane, alkylated diphenylamines can be employed at greatly reduced levels of aromatic solvents. Likewise, when mixed catalyst streams containing alkylated diphenyl amines are combined precipitation is minimized compared to para-styrenated diphenylamine significantly improving issues related to fouling. The subject invention more specifically discloses a process for producing cis-1,4-polybutadiene having a reduced molecular weight and improved processability which comprises polymerizing 1,3-butadiene in the presence of (a) an organonickel compound, (b) an organoaluminum compound, (c) a fluorine containing compound, and (d) an alkylated diphenylamine; wherein the alkylated diphenylamine has alkyl groups that contain from 2 to 18 carbon atoms, and wherein the organoaluminum compound and the fluorine containing compound are brought together in the presence of the alkylated diphenylamine.
Abstract:
An aqueous polymer blend composition including a predominant amount of soft polymer particles and a minor amount of hard polymer particles is provided. The soft polymer particles contain, as copolymerized units, 70 to 99.7% by weight monoethylenically unsaturated (meth)acrylic monomer and from 0.3 to 10% by weight monoethylenically unsaturated acid monomer, based on weight of soft polymer particles. The soft polymer particles are made by a select process including redox polymerization or polymerization in the presence of excess unreacted monomer. The aqueous polymer blend composition is useful for preparing dry coatings having improved dirt pickup resistance and acceptable scrub resistance. A method is provided for preparing a dry coating from the aqueous polymer blend composition.
