摘要： A portable office having a shock resistant case within which to carry a computer workstation that includes a personal computer and one or more computer peripherals. In an as-packaged configuration, the computer workstation is detachably connected to a flat table surface that extends across the carrying case. In a detached configuration, the computer workstation is lifted off the table surface and separated from the carrying case to be transported to a remote worksite outside the confines to the carrying case. A shock isolation system suspends the computer workstation above the carrying case and absorbs potentially damaging impact forces and vibrations that are created when the carrying case is subjected to physical forces during the transit. The shock isolation system also permits the computer workstation to be operated from a moving motor vehicle.

A method for controlling impedance at an edge of a circuit board includes creating a cut at an edge of a plane of the circuit board. The cut extends from the edge of the plane to a point at a depth into the plane. The method can further include creating a cut pattern in the edge of the plane by repeating the cut along the edge of the plane such that an impedance of the plane at the depth is different, or lower, than an impedance of the plane at the edge of the plane. The method also includes determining a passing of a predetermined time period since receiving the indication of displacement, placing the input device in a second active mode of operation characterized by a second power consumption level less than the power consumption level, and periodically monitoring one or more of a plurality of touch sensors. The method further includes receiving an indication of input from the one or more of the plurality of touch sensors and placing the input device in the active mode of operation.

摘要： Compile-time optimized bounds checking of user-defined types is provided. A user-defined class has an annotated memory-accessing method, and an annotated bound-providing member such as an integer field containing a bound or a method that returns a bound when called. The user-defined-bounds check may supply bounds checking where the programming language has none, or it may supplement existing bounds checks, e.g., by wrapping a built-in array type or a garbage-collector-managed type. Bounds checking can be extended beyond arrays and other types whose layout is controlled by a compiler, allowing efficient systems programming in a managed code environment. A bounds-check representation is inserted by the compiler in intermediate language code. Optimization then reduces duplicative bounds checking.
