Abstract:
A method of providing network access notification is provided. The method can include receiving an identification for a wireless device at an access gateway and determining that the wireless device is not authorized to access a communication network based on the received identification. The method can further include sending a rejection notification to a messaging node indicating that the wireless device is not authorized to access the communication network and sending an access notification from the messaging node to an authorization device when the rejection notification is received at the messaging node. The access notification can include network access information to enable the wireless device to access the communication network. The authorization device is determined based on the identification. The method can also include receiving a response from the authorization device based on the network access information, and enabling access from the wireless device to the communication network.
Abstract:
A method and medium are provided for automatically updating user profiles based on authentication failures associated with network-access requests from mobile communications devices. A mobile communications device requests access to a mobile network and the access is rejected due to an authentication failure. Upon communicating a rejection message to the mobile communications device, the authentication server communicates a network-access rejection notification to a user-profile updating server that resets network-generated authentication credentials and provides updated profiles containing reset credentials to a provisioning server. Subsequent access requests from the mobile device are handled through a dedicated profile-provisioning home agent until the device is updated, at which time network access can be granted through a more conventional home agent.
Abstract:
A wireless communication device comprises a wireless communication interface, a processing system, and a user interface. The wireless communication interface is configured to wirelessly receive a mixed media signal comprising a plurality of audio streams originating from different source devices. The processing system is configured to isolate the audio streams and generate graphical representations of each one of the audio streams. The user interface is configured to display the graphical representations of each one of the audio streams and receive audio stream modification instructions from a user. The processing system is configured to process the audio stream modification instructions to generate at least one modified audio stream based on the audio stream modification instructions. The user interface is configured to display a graphical representation of the modified audio stream and audibly output a modified mixed media signal comprising the modified audio stream.
Abstract:
Exemplary methods and systems may provide a soft-inactivity notification during a VoIP call, which according to an exemplary embodiment involves a SIP session and packet-data communications between participants in the VoIP call. The method comprises (a) detecting that packet-data communications in the VoIP call have been interrupted; (b) in response to determining that the packet-data communications have been interrupted, making a determination as to whether or not the SIP session is active; (c) if the SIP session is active, then initiating a soft-inactivity notification procedure; and (d) otherwise, if the SIP session is inactive, refraining from initiating the soft-inactivity notification procedure. The soft-inactivity notification thus notifies a user that while the call has been interrupted, the call may be re-established without requiring the user to reconnect.
Abstract:
In some aspects, the invention provides a genetically tractable in situ non-human animal model for hepatocellular carcinoma. The model is useful, inter alia, in understanding the molecular mechanisms of liver cancer, in understanding the genetic alterations that lead to chemoresistance or poor prognosis, and in identifying and evaluating new therapies against hepatocellular carcinomas. The liver cancer model of this invention is made by altering hepatocytes to increase oncogene expression, to reduce tumor suppressor gene expression or both and by transplanting the resulting hepatocytes into a recipient non-human animal. The present invention also provides methods for identifying and validating tumor suppressor genes by screening pools of shRNAs that target genomic regions deleted in human cancers, such as human hepatocellular carcinomas. The present invention also provides validated tumor suppressor genes, and methods of inhibiting cell proliferation and/or tumor growth, for example by expression of such tumor suppressor genes.
Abstract:
A method and system for location-based group conference initiation is provided. A server will receive a request from a user to initiate a media conference, and the server will then initiate a conference with members of a group who are located in a designated location. The request may indicate a group of users who are candidates to be invited to the conference, and the location at issue. Given the request, the server will determine which of the candidate users are currently located within the zone at issue. And the server will then invite each of those candidate users to participate in the conference.
Abstract:
An interface engine that is communicatively connected to a packet-switched network and to a legacy circuit-switched network uses a call processing protocol, such as the session initiation protocol (SIP), for packet-switched network communications and uses a legacy signaling protocol, such as IS-41, for legacy circuit-switched communications. In response to a registration request initiated by a subscriber device on the packet-switched network, the interface engine obtains a service profile for the subscriber from a call processing system, such as a home location register (HLR), of the legacy circuit-switched network. Service parameters derived from the service profile and stored in a service database may be used to apply services on the packet-switched network for the subscriber device.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a process to prepare a pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylate derivative via the reaction of a dialkyl alkoxy(or alkylthio)oxalacetate with an appropriately substituted acrolein compound in the presence of an ammonia source and a solvent. The present invention also provides useful intermediate compounds of formula IV. ##STR1##

Abstract:
Methods and systems for selective scanning and connecting to a wireless network are described. In an example, a mobile device may be configured to scan for availability of a wireless network and measure, at the mobile device, signal strengths of a wireless signal from the wireless network. Also, the mobile device may be configured to determine a rate of signal strength change for the wireless signal from the wireless network based on the measured signal strengths; and compare the rate of signal strength change to a threshold value. If the rate of signal strength change is less than the threshold value, the mobile device may be configured to establish a connection with the wireless network; if not, the mobile device may be configured to stop scanning for the wireless network.
