Abstract: A tape includes: a flexible backing layer having two major surfaces, wherein the backing layer has a thickness of greater than 64 micrometers and up to 200 micrometers, and one major surface of the backing layer includes a primed surface; and a rubber-based pressure sensitive adhesive layer disposed on the primed surface of the backing layer, wherein the pressure sensitive adhesive layer has a thickness of at least 7.6 micrometers (and preferably up to 25 micrometers); wherein, when disposed on an aluminum substrate, the tape displays a peel adhesion of less than 20 oz/in (219 N/m) according to a Peel Adhesion Strength Test described in the Examples Section, and a leakage distance of less than 762 micrometers according to a Chromic Acid Anodization—Leakage Distance Test described in the Examples Section. A method of anodizing an aluminum surface includes: providing a substrate having an aluminum surface; applying a tape as described herein to mask the aluminum surface and form a masked substrate; and exposing the masked substrate to an electrolyte solution including chromic acid under conditions effective to form aluminum oxide.

Abstract: Adhesive compositions including 20 wt. % to 80 wt. % of a polymer selected from the group consisting of a radial styrene-isoprene block copolymer, a radial styrene-butadiene block copolymer, and combinations thereof, and 3 wt. % to 80 wt. % of a liquid rubber having a molecular weight of 300 Daltons to 100,000 Daltons, where the liquid rubber is selected from the group consisting of an isoprene rubber, a butadiene rubber, and combinations thereof. Such adhesive compositions exhibit high cohesive integrity as well as high adhesion and peel properties.

Abstract: Articles comprising first and second coextruded polymeric nettings are described. The articles comprise a plurality of pairs of first segments comprising a first material. Adjacent first segments are joined together via a second segments comprising second material, wherein the second segments extend past the first major surface of each first adjacent segments. The articles further include an adhesive on at least one of the first or second major surfaces of the first segment. The first segments, second segments, and third material each extend continuously for at least 5 mm in the machine direction, and the first and second materials of adjacent pairs are periodically bonded together in the machine direction. A portion of some of the first segments of the first coextruded polymeric netting are engaged between some of the adjacent first segments of the second coextruded polymeric netting.

Abstract: A system including a polymeric sheet. The polymeric sheet comprises a base sheet having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface and a multiplicity of spaced rails projecting from the first surface of the base sheet. The rails comprise a stem portion attached to and substantially upright from the first surface of the base sheet and a top portion on the distal end of the stem opposite the base sheet. The top portion comprises a first surface opposite the base sheet and a second surface facing the first surface of the base sheet. Additionally, the rails have a length greater than the width of the stems. The first surface of the base sheet, the second surface of the top portion and the surface of the stem defines a cavity with walls, and an adhesive coated on at least a portion of the cavity wall.

Abstract: Coextruded polymeric netting having a machine direction comprising: a plurality of pairs of: first segments each having first and second opposed major surfaces and a thickness, the first segments comprising first material; second segments comprising second material, wherein adjacent first segments are joined together via a second segment, wherein the second segments extend from the second major surface past the first major surface of each first adjacent segment and has a distal end, the second segments having first and second opposed major surfaces, wherein there is a gap between adjacent second segments; and a third material, different from the first and second materials on at least one of the first or second major surfaces of at least every other second segment, wherein the first segments, second segments, and third material each extend continuously for at least 5 mm in the machine direction, and wherein first and second materials of adjacent pairs are periodically bonded together in the machine direction. Uses for coextended polymeric articles described herein include fasteners.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an adhesive composition is described comprising a polyisobutylene polymer component, a styrene-isobutylene block copolymer, and optionally a tackifier. The polyisobutylene polymer component comprises one or more polyisobutylene polymers. The polyisobutylene polymer component has an average weight average molecular weight ranging from 15,000 g/mole to 300,000 g/mole. The weight ratio of block copolymer to polyisobutylene polymer of the adhesive composition is greater than 2.2:1. In some embodiments, the adhesive composition is a pressure sensitive adhesive.
