Abstract:
The instant invention relates to concentrated aqueous solutions of hexasulphonated stilbene optical brighteners which are storage-stable in the absence of solubilizing agents like urea. By removal of salts resulting from the preparation of the optical brightener one can obtain a concentration of up to 0.350 mol/kg without losing storage stability. The reduced water content enables coating compositions which require less drying energy and which show less water and binder migration into the paper.
Abstract:
The invention relates to industrial lubricant and grease compositions containing high viscosity index polyalphaolefins (HVI-PAO). The use of HVI-PAOs in industrial oils and greases application provides advantages in improved shear stability, wear property, foam property, energy efficiency and improved overall performance.
Abstract:
High performance engine oils and other liquid lubricants comprise a liquid lubricant basestock of low viscosity from 1.5 to 12 cSt (100C) with two dissolved polymer components of differing molecular weights. The basestock is preferably a single PAO or blend of PAOs with a co-basestock component which is preferably an ester or an alkylated aromatic of comparable viscosity. The lower molecular weight polymer is highly viscoelastic in character and is preferably an HVI-PAO; this component in the lubricant which provides unexpectedly high film thickness and unexpectedly good wear protection under conditions where the second, higher molecular weight polymer may lose some or all of its thickening power. The use of the highly viscoelastic low molecular weight polymer in combination with the higher molecular weight thickener enables the production of very widely cross-graded engine oils, especially oils with a low temperature grading of 0W or better. Oils with cross gradings of 0W20, 0W30, 0W40 or even more widely cross graded, for example 0W70 or higher may be achieved.
Abstract:
A method of chlorinating vinylidene chloride contained in a solution 1,1-dichloro-1-fluoroethane to provide a chlorinated compound having a boiling point different from the 1,1-dichloro-1-fluoroethane to permit separation therefrom, the method comprising providing a solution containing 1,1-dichloro-1-fluoroethane and vinylidene chloride; and contacting said solution with chlorine and an alumina catalyst to effect chlorination of said vinylidene chloride to produce a chlorinated compound having a boiling point different than said 1,1 dichloro-1-fluoroethane.
Abstract:
A process for upgrading a light olefin feed by converting the 1-olefins to higher molecular weight oligomers and the iso-oleins to fuel ethers or alcohols. The process provides substantial improvements in the production of lower alkyl tertiary alkyl ethers or tertiary alkyl alcohol, such as methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), methyl tertiary amyl ether (TAME) or tertiary butyl alcohol. The 1-olefin component of the hydrocarbon feedstream is separated by selective oligomerization in contact with a reduced chromium oxide catalyst to form an olefin oligomer of higher molecular weight, such as gasoline, distillate and lube range hydrocarbons. The iso-olefins are separated by etherification with a lower alcohol such as methanol or by hydration to form an alcohol such as tertiary butanol. The oligomerization process can be integrated either upstream or downstream of the etherification step.
Abstract:
A novel composition is disclosed that is particularly useful as a lubricant viscosity index improver. The composition comprises branched branched C.sub.30 -C.sub.10000 hydrocarbons that have a branch ratio of less than 0.19 and viscosity at 100.degree. C. between 725 CS and 15,000 cS. The novel compositions comprise the product of the oligomerization of C.sub.6 to C.sub.20 alpha-olefin feedstock, or mixtures thereof, under oligomerization conditions at a temperature between -20.degree. C. and +90.degree. C. in contact with a reduced valence state Group VIB metal catalyst on porous support. The compositions have viscosities at 100.degree. C. between 725 cS and 15,000 cS. Using the foregoing compositions in admixture with mineral oil and synthetic lubricants provides novel lubricant blends that show an elevated viscosity index. The mixtures also show an increased stability to shear stress at high temperature with all blends notable by exhibiting Newtonian flow.

Examples are disclosed herein that relate to the display of mixed reality imagery. One example provides a mixed reality computing device comprising an image sensor, a display device, a storage device comprising instructions, and a processor. The instructions are executable to receive an image of a physical environment, store the image, render a three-dimensional virtual model, form a mixed reality thumbnail image by compositing a view of the three-dimensional virtual model and the image, and display the mixed reality thumbnail image. The instructions are further executable to receive a user input updating the three-dimensional virtual model, render the updated three-dimensional virtual model, update the mixed reality thumbnail image by compositing a view of the updated three-dimensional virtual model and the image of the physical environment, and display the mixed reality thumbnail image including the updated three-dimensional virtual model composited with the image of the physical environment.
Abstract:
A system and method for determining approval of a multi-currency transaction between a customer and a merchant over a network. The system includes a customer computer which is connected to a communication network, a merchant computer which is connected to the communication network, and a server connected to both the customer computer via the communication network and to the merchant computer via the communication network. The customer computer includes a first set of data which contains an amount the customer is willing to pay the merchant for a product in a first currency. The merchant computer includes a second set of data which contains a product price at which the merchant agrees to sell the product in a second currency. The server receives the first set of data and the second set of data. The server then converts the amount in the first currency into a converted amount in the second currency. The server approves the transaction if the converted amount in the second currency is within a risk range of the product price in the second currency in accordance with current exchange rates. Once the transaction is approved, the approving entity may settle the transaction at its discretion thereby bearing the risk associated with currency exchange. The parties, however, incur no risk. The customer will pay the amount in the first currency and the merchant will receive the price in the second currency. These are values known and agreed to by the parties at the time of the transaction.
