Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes a cylinder head and a cylinder block. The cylinder head includes a first boss cylinder head conduit portion and a first boss cylinder head cavity portion. The first boss cylinder head conduit portion is configured to receive a first fastener without threadably engaging the first fastener. The first boss cylinder head conduit portion has a first diameter. The first boss cylinder head cavity portion is aligned with the first boss cylinder head conduit portion. The first boss cylinder head cavity portion is configured to receive the first fastener without threadably engaging the first fastener. The first boss cylinder head cavity portion has a second diameter greater than the first diameter. The cylinder block is coupled to the cylinder head. The cylinder block includes a first boss cylinder block threaded portion.

A medial space is defined between the first bank and the second bank. An exhaust system is in fluid receiving communication with the internal combustion engine and in fluid providing communication with the atmosphere. The exhaust system includes an aftertreatment system that is disposed at least in part at the medial space between the first bank and the second bank of the internal combustion engine.

Abstract: Variable counterweight apparatuses, systems and methods. The variable counterweight system includes at least one rotatable actuator, a first variable counterweight assembly, and a second variable counterweight assembly. Abstract: A variable valve actuation system in one form includes a rocker coupled with a valve stem at one end and a cam follower at the other end. The rocker is operable to rotate about a fixed axis and the cam follower includes a set of lower rollers operable to follow one cam lobe and an upper roller operable to follow another cam lobe. A leaf spring can be used to couple the cam follower with the rocker. A cam shaft can have a nested configuration that includes an inner shaft, an intermediate tube, and an outer tube. Cam lobes can be fastened to the cam shaft by fastening through each of the inner shaft, intermediate tube, and outer tube. The cam lobes can be attached by at least two devices inserted from either side of the cam shaft and that are not inserted at least through the inner shaft.
