Abstract: A state monitoring apparatus in a vehicle monitors the state of a driver using a face image of the driver. The state monitoring apparatus emits light from a light projecting part toward a predetermined area and receives, via an imaging unit, light reflected by the face that is assumed to be positioned in the predetermined area. A control circuit in the state monitoring apparatus adjusts a gradation value of the face image by changing length of an exposure period in which an imaging element of the imaging unit is set to an exposure state. Further, the control circuit controls light emission of the projecting part so that light emission brightness at the time of start of the exposure period becomes higher as the exposure period of the imaging element is shortened.

Abstract: A feature point position estimation device is provided. The feature point position estimation device includes a subject detection section for detecting a subject region from a subject image, a feature point positioning section for positioning a feature point at a preliminarily prepared initial feature point position with respect to the subject region, a feature amount acquisition unit for acquiring a feature amount of the feature points arranged, a regression calculation unit for calculating a deviation amount of a position of a true feature point with respect to the position of the feature point by performing a regression calculation on the feature amount, and a repositioning unit for repositioning the feature points based on the deviation amount. The regression calculation unit calculates the deviation amount by converting the feature amount in a matrix-resolved regression matrix.

Abstract: An image pickup device includes a first emission unit that emits a near infrared light toward a face of a driver from a front lower side of the driver, and a second emission unit that emits a near infrared light from an upper side of the driver. When a sunvisor is present at a storage position in which sunlight is not shielded, the second emission unit is disposed at a position to be covered with the sunvisor. A portion where the sunvisor present at a storage position covers the second emission unit is made of a material that shields a visible light contained in the sunlight and transmits the near infrared light.

Abstract: A driving assist device includes a driver state detection unit for detecting an inattentive state as a driver state, an alerting unit for altering the driver upon detection of the inattentive state of the driver, a driving operation unit for being operated by the driver for driving operations; and a driving state switching unit that switches at least one of the driving operations in an automated driving state to a manual driving state when the driver's operation of the driving operation unit is detected during the automated driving state of the vehicle. When at least one of the driving operations in the automated driving state is switched to the manual driving state by the driving state switching unit, the driver state detection unit detects whether the state of the driver is an excited state. When the excited state of the driver is detected, the alerting unit alerts the driver.

Abstract: A driver monitoring system (1) recognizes a state of a driver (S210) and determines a recognition stability (S215). When the recognition stability is less than a predetermined reference value, the driver monitoring system makes a request to the driver for a different action that is different from an action requested when the recognition stability is not less than the reference value (S230, S235, S240, S260, S310) and detects an action of the driver that responds to the request (S270, S315). This configuration can keep the wakefulness of the driver, even when the driver state such as wakefulness cannot be correctly recognized.
