Abstract: An electric vehicle charging system including a switchable battery having at least two battery packs that are selectively arranged in one of a fast-charging configuration and a drive configuration. The fast-charging configuration includes connecting each of the at least two battery packs to separate charging sources and the drive configuration includes connecting each of the at least two battery packs in parallel. The charging system including a plurality of sensors configured to measure one or more characteristics of the at least two battery packs and a controller configured to calculate an adjustment to a charging current of one of the at least two battery packs based on the one or more characteristics and transmit the adjustment to a charging source associated with the one of the at least two battery packs.

Abstract: A system and method for predicting a health of a battery. The system includes a sensor and a processor. The sensor is configured to obtain a battery data indicative of a parameter of the battery. A plurality of scores for the battery data is determined, and the battery data is partitioned into a plurality of subsets for which the scores have a different behavior for each of the subsets. The processor partitions the battery data into a plurality of subsets, determines a score for each of the plurality of subsets, wherein each score is related to the health of the battery, generates an overall score from the scores from each of the subsets, and predicts the health of the battery from the overall score.

Abstract: A fault diagnostic system includes: memory including a fault model, the fault model including: a plurality of failure modes of a vehicle; and symptoms respectively associated with each of the failure modes; an updating module configured to: based on a data set, determine a new failure mode that is not already included in the fault model and new symptoms indicative of the occurrence of the new failure mode; modify the fault model by: adding the new failure mode to the fault model; and adding the new symptoms to the fault model in association with the new failure mode; and re-save the fault model in the memory.

Abstract: A system for monitoring operation of a vehicle includes a processing device including an interface configured to receive measurement data from sensing devices configured to measure parameters of a vehicle system. The processing device is configured to receive measurement data from each of the plurality of sensing devices, and in response to detection of a malfunction in the vehicle, input at least a subset of the measurement data to a machine learning classifier associated with a vehicle subsystem, the classifier configured to define a class associated with normal operation of the vehicle subsystem. The processing device is also configured to determine whether the subset of the measurement data belongs to the class, and based on at least a selected amount of the subset of the measurement data being outside of the class, output a fault indication, the fault indication identifying the vehicle subsystem as having a contribution to the malfunction.

Abstract: Disclosed are engine torque and emission control (ETEC) systems, methods for using such systems, and motor vehicles with engines employing ETEC schemes. An ETEC system is disclosed for operating an internal combustion engine (ICE) assembly. The system includes an engine sensor for monitoring engine torque, an exhaust sensor for monitoring nitrogen oxide (NOx) output of the ICE assembly, and an engine control unit (ECU) communicatively connected to the engine sensor, exhaust sensor, and ICE assembly. The ECU is programmed to: receive desired engine torque and desired NOx output data; determine, from current engine torque and current NOx output data, desired engine torque, and desired NOx output, desired engine operation and exhaust operation references; determine, from the desired engine operation and exhaust operation references, an engine operation control command and an exhaust operation control command; and regulate operation of the ICE assembly via the engine operation and exhaust operation control commands.
