    Abstract: A surface enhanced infrared absorption stage may include a substrate, a static island extending from the substrate and a movable nano finger extending from the substrate. The static island may have a plasmonically active island cap and a dimension parallel to the substrate of at least one micrometer. The movable nano finger may be aligned with the dimension. The movable nano finger may have a plasmonicaly active finger cap closable to less than or equal to 5 nm of the island cap.

    Abstract: A surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensor may include a substrate, an electrically conductive layer having a first portion spaced from a second portion by a gap, an electrically resistive layer in contact with and extending between the first portion and the second portion of the electrically conductive layer to form an electrically resistive bridge across the gap that heats the nano fingers in response to electrical current flowing across the bridge from the first portion to the second portion and nano fingers extending upward from the bridge.

    Abstract: An analysis assembly is provided. The analysis assembly includes an analysis chip disposed on a supporting platform aligned in an x-y plane, wherein an active surface of the analysis chip is aligned along a z-axis opposite the supporting platform. A mounting assembly joined to the supporting platform is configured to hold the analysis chip in an analysis vessel, and wherein the z-axis is in alignment with a longitudinal axis of the analysis vessel.
